For those who have never ventured to our remote beach, I thought I would take you on a pictorial trip.

COMING UP TO THE TURNOFF

THE CRUCERO DEL PACIFICO RESTAURANT, where one can leave anything for me and they will forward it with the next driver.

3.jpg - 169kB

HERE IS THE SIGN FOR THE RAODWORK TO REPAVE THE MANY DISASTROUS AREAS FULL OF POTHOLES. ELECTIONS ARE COMING UP (might that have something to do with it?)

4 campo fisher sign.jpg - 120kB

THE BEGINNING OF THE ROAD, OLD PAVEMENT BUT IN GREAT SHAPE STILL

5.jpg - 107kB

NEW PAVEMENT

6.jpg - 129kB

THEY ARE REALLY WORKING HARD AND DOING A GREAT JOB

7.jpg - 135kB

THE ENTRANCE TO PUNTA ABREOJOS. TO THE FAR LEFT, BY THE OCEAN, IS LA BALIZA (where many gringoes live). Straight ahead and turning left on Calle Miguel Dominguez will lead you to the beginning of the malecon. There is a delish and reasonably priced restaurant called Juanita's on the malecon. The fishing cooperative bldg. is all the way down the boardwalk, on the left.

Nice!!!

Any work or progress on the Abreojos to La Bocana highway you mentioned a few months ago? I will revise my map to show pavement once it is open.

BajaBlanca - 6-1-2018 at 02:42 PM

continuation:

THE ENTRANCE TO ABREOJOS - the Pemex is the first bldg. on the right but my photo blurred.

9.jpg - 188kB

HERE IS A NEW HOTEL WHICH MY STUDENT DESIGNED AND HIS DAD BUILT

10.jpg - 107kB

THIS IS CALLE MIGUEL DOMINGUEZ. TURN RIGHT HERE TO GO TO LA BOCANA. THE BEAUTIFUL MODERN LOOKING BUILDING CATENORNER IS THE LOCAL COOPERATIVE'S SALON SOCIAL. PARTIES AND MEETINGS ARE HELD HERE.

THE SIGN SAYS RESTAURANT LA CASITA. IT IS THE RESTAURANT THAT BELONGS TO THE MOM OF CLARISSA WHO JUST GRADUATED IN MARINE BIOLOGY. IT IS A SIMPLE PLACE THAT SHE CREATED WHEN HER HUSBAND DIED.

11.jpg - 151kB

AS SOON AS YOU TURN RIGHT AND GO DOWN THE ROAD A BIT, YOU SEE LA CASITA RESTAURANT.

12.jpg - 222kB

THESE ARE BARRET'S RENTALS - TWO VERY CUTE HOUSES AND HE IS ON BAJA NOMAD BUT I DON'T REMEMBER HIS NAME HERE...

13.jpg - 190kB

NOW THERE ARE 11 MILES / 17 KM OF SALT FLATS. ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROME. STAY ON THE HARD PACK AT ALL TIMES. WE CALL THIS THE LA BOCANA FREEWAY.

THE NEW PAVED ROAD BETWEEN THE TWO TOWNS EXIST BUT THERE HAS BEEN A SNAFU. TWO OWNERS REFUSE TO LET THE ROAD GO THRU THEIR PROPERTY WITHOUT PAYMENT. SO, ROAD IS PAVED THEN DIRT THEN PAVED AGAIN! WE DON'T USE IT YET.

14.jpg - 104kB

LA BOCANA IN THE DISTANCE 20 MINUTES LATER. COOPERATIVE BLDG IS ON THE FAR RIGHT.

15.jpg - 92kB

THE COOPERATIVE BUILDING WITH MANY SOLAR PANELS. TOURS ARE POSSIBLE WITH ADVANCE BOOKING. CANNED PRODUCTS AVAILABLE IN OUR HUGE SUPERMARKET.

16.jpg - 125kB

BajaBlanca - 6-1-2018 at 02:54 PM

and here are the last photos, once in La Bocana.

ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS YOU SEE WHEN YOU ENTER THRU THE SALT FLAT IS THE GAS PUMP. THEY CLOSE FROM 1 TO 3 PM.

17.jpg - 145kB

SECOND BUIDLING RIGHT IN FRONT IS MARTIN'S RESTAURANT. OPEN SOMETIMES AND NOT AT OTHER'S IF MARTINA ISN'T FEELING SO HOT. WONDERFUL FAMILY. TYPICAL MEXICAN FARE LIKE BIRRIA.

18.jpg - 164kB

IF YOU TAKE A LEFT AT MARTIN'S AND FOLLOW THE RED HOTEL SIGNS, IT TAKES YOU PAST OUR BNB AND RIGHT TO OUR HOUSE. FEEL FREE TO JOIN LES FOR A BEER, ANY AFTERNOON!

19.jpg - 111kB

AND VOILA, THE BLANCA AND LES ABODE! WE CALL IT CASA BLANCA

So much done since last summer!
La Bocana has a Pemex station, too?
Imaging landowners complaining about a highway to their property, which can only increase the value. Is there no pleasing them or eminent domain laws the state can impose for the "greater good"?

I´m speechless!:lol I thought your type was all about less gubermint? You have no clue how Mexico works:light: Did you ever stop to think that some people don´t give a ratz azz about increasing their property value? Maybe they are happy with the solitude they purchased? Greater good:lol:

What is "my type" (is that like "You people"?) Notice I used "quotes" as a tongue and cheek question. I have been enjoying Mexico since 1965... I know how it works.

TMW - 6-1-2018 at 07:26 PM

As usual it's about the money.

BajaBlanca - 6-2-2018 at 08:24 AM

TMW hit it right on. It is all about the money. Greed is the motive seems like.

Punta Abreojos is looking grand at the entrance. I t now has a much widened street with really nice sidewalks (every so often a tree was left right in the middle of the sidewalk).

We don't have a PEMEX, just a gas pump run by the local cooperative. It has been a Godsend. It is open 7 days a week.

David K - 6-2-2018 at 09:34 AM

Thanks Blanca, I thought I saw the word Pemex on the pump, so assumed a Pemex franchise. I wonder how long before that gets shut down? The Baja Sur government is hyper-sensitive about independent gas dealers... so much so that the dealers in Comondú and elsewhere had to take down any signs and locals had to tell you which house to get gas at. That was in 2017... maybe that has changed?

wessongroup - 6-2-2018 at 04:08 PM

Hey, almost to "town" ... pretty good in my book ...:biggrin:

Blanca, No ad for Juoquin? Had a great meal there this evening.
