Give me some tips.

advrider - 6-8-2018 at 07:27 PM

Make sure you have a big tank. Don't rush it, there is to much to see. Camp a night if you can. Just did this ride in March and it was awesome..

Did it a year ago. We rushed it for sure. Camped one night, but really flew through it.

Gonna camp two nights and take more time. Brought 3 bikes last year. Only gonna bring 2 this year and the truck.

I let my oldest drink a few beers now, so he won't be in such a hurry. :)

Need an extra supply truck? 😁

advrider - 6-9-2018 at 08:17 AM

Having the truck will make it nice, much nicer not having to load the bike down with gear. Might be nice to take a pole and try a little fishing. Take plenty of drone videos and pictures and plan on giving a good report when you get back. Last year was my first time down this stretch of coast and I really feel like I had been missing out! You could always catch the 22 day trail on the way down from El Rosario to Catavina, its a fun ride too.

Some video segment with Tom Petty's Running Down A Dream.

If you are camping a couple of nights then by all means bring a surf rod. There are several good fishing spots. I like Bahia Blanco and Playa el Marron. Evening time before dark and early morning at sunrise are good times. Mostly yellow fin croakers. Fresh fish is hard to beat for a good meal.

Some 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz silver/blue Kastmasters work great on YFC.

Gonna take a GoPro this time. Put it on the chin bar of the helmet to get some short, good action shots.

Been watching videos on how to do really slow-mo shots. Like tires spinning and throwing sand super slow. Or a pelican flapping it's wings. Will try to add that to the mix this time.

Toss some 1.5 oz krocs into the surf. I’m talking 3’ deep. Walk the shore and look for the rip currents. That’s where the majik happens.

dtbushpilot - 6-9-2018 at 08:38 PM

Where?

pappy - 6-12-2018 at 06:53 AM

Kroc seem to work for all types of fish it’s all I ever use...

The pacific coast west of Catavina. Great run, just have to watch out for the silt beds.

StuckSucks - 6-12-2018 at 04:01 PM

Looking forward to seeing the videos from this trip.

JZ if you pull off to Catavina for any reason then return to the coast how about taking the route past the San Telmo onyx mine. I've been to the mine but not the route out to the coast. Score has not run that section since 1985. They did run the bottom half in 2015 but it was south of the mine itself.

On some maps, the San Telmo onyx mine is also called Cerro Blanco or Cerrito Blanco. Today, there is a sign at Hwy. 1 calling the site 'Rancho El Marmolito, 38 kms.' This junction is at Km. 168 on Hwy. 1 (11 kms. north of Cataviña).

If you can't mount the go pro on the chin bar try it under the visor.
