What to expect, election on July 1

BajaNaranja - 6-21-2018 at 09:21 AM

If I recall, in MEX during election time, liquor stores won't sell beer wine booze... is that for 24 hours or a couple of days?

What other services may be interrupted during the July 1 presidential elections?

Thanks in advance for any info offered up

The military will be out in force cruising around everywhere, nothing like a 50 cal leveled at your back window by a teenager.

Mexico's version of Trump is going to win, popcorn time

I don't follow Mexican politics but what is ALMO's position on NAFTA.

Like Trump, thinks the US is getting a bad deal with NAFTA. ALMO thinks Mexico, is getting screwed by the multinationals, and for sure he is not going to let foreign countries steal Mexico's national resources like it's oil or like what happens to all the other Latin American countries through the years.

But ALMO is all for NAFTA, as long as he can negotiate a good deal for Mexico.

So I don't think anybody should worry that ALMO is going to be a far left radical socialist. He is willing to work within the system, but he will be pushing for better wages for the masses, and the corporate fat cats will hate and fear ALMO. I wouldn't be surprise there isn't an attempt to assassinate the future President of Mexico.

I think Mexico, especially the masses will love ALMO, and the Mexicans will go crazy in the streets when ALMO wins the election.

I found this online:

"The Mexico Presidential election is on Sunday, July 1st. The law in Mexico called ley seca prohibits the sale of alcohol from midnight Friday through midnight on Sunday.

Any educated guesses about banking problems/devaluation if Lopez Obrador wins?! Mexico's economy is strong from what I read and the GNP also so what do the Economists predict if AMLO wins ? I'm hoping for his victory as a means to help improve workers wages and living conditions in areas like farm labor in agricultural areas. Vamos a ver.

A simple correction, it is AMLO, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
And my two cents are, JJJ is correct so far that is AMLO platform, we shall see?!

I'm guessing relations between the Trump administration and Mexico will become even more strained if AMLO is elected. I expect the US conservative media to allege that AMLO is a hardcore socialist (he's not) and put out scare stories comparing Mexico to Venezuela, thereby breeding more hateful American feelings toward Mexico.

He barely lost the last two presidential elections. He has been involved in Mexican politics for 20 years and was mayor of Mexico City from 2000 to 2005. I have read he left office with an 84% approval rating.
