Fishing in the Eastern Sierras..Smoke from Yosemite fire but still had a good time....No matter where we are fishing I always think of the great stories on Baja Nomad..This one is for you Roger aka Pompano..Hope you are well.

Those look delicious !!

And the trout look pretty darn good to !

Nice catch guillermo , Almost nothing better than pan fried trout with a dusting of flower, season salt and pepper cooked over a camp fire in a cast Iron skillet .

Ahhh the memories .... Thanks

Thanks Paco....by the way..that is our exact way to cook the trout..Salud to you this Friday..

care to spill the name of the creek and location?

basautter - 8-18-2018 at 11:55 AM

Nice! Salt water is my favorite, but trout in Colorado works when I can't make it to Baja :bounce:

rancho guillermo - 8-18-2018 at 01:34 PM

Caj13....location is Buckeye creek just out of Bridgeport, CA. Bait was night crawlers and mice tails.

Paco Facullo - 8-18-2018 at 02:24 PM

Mice tails ?

Never heard of using them ? Must be a joke, right ? If not, where do you buy or get them ?

rancho guillermo - 8-18-2018 at 02:45 PM

They are for real....do not have a photo but you can look up on internet and see them....Cabela's or any other fish shop will have them..

Are those planted trout?

Answered my own question. It's amazing what you can find on the internet these days:

Yes Skipjack...planted Rainbows....there is an old beaver pond we hiked up to..roughly 9000 elevation that still has some native brook trout..but like Baja...not like it used to be..

Those wild ones aren't big and they're too small for a meal but they sure are pretty.

thanks RG, you come over to the civilized side of the DSierras, I'll put you on a creek you can get the sierra slam on in 3 or 4 hours max,

Goldens on the gentle slope side of the Sierra? I know the
East side well, W side not so much. Am I close in guessing
a slam in a creek above the Kern? or hiking back into
Kings Canyon?

you can get it in the Kern Drainage, but I'm further north, north of kings Canyon as well
