Hey Hook!

NY Times Sunday crossword:
Clue: "Jesus was one": 4 spaces.

I did not have to think twice.:D

Well, I dont know. But I must CONFESS that my study of Jesus, according to Catholicism, ended at age 14.

Even when I consider that it must have something to do with wine, fishing, Baja or baseball, I am drawing a blank. "Bard" is all I can come up with. Not The Bard, of course.

This is the biblical Jesus and not some Hispanic guy named Hey-Soos, correct?

Was he ever actually that? Or was that a title given to him, posthumously, by Christians?

I will never forget any of the Alou brothers.

Felipe had the most power, Matty was the best overall hitter and the only one from the left side.

Jesus was the weakest hitter of the three. But he was memorable for a nervous tic that he had. He had this quick neck roll that he did between pitches.

Are you old enough to remember that, Santiago?

He was known as that while he was alive by his Roman detractors. In fact, I think it (the reputation) is the main reason for his crucifixion. Pontius Pilate viewed him as competition, it was dangerous to impinge upon his authority. It's mentioned in John 19:3

I am old enough to remember if I could remember.....Between 1958 and 1963 I could probably name you the starting lineup of all the teams, not that many then. I had shoe boxes of trading cards and every Saturday we would watch the Game of the Week. Most of the world series we got by radio. Every afternoon your could walk the streets of Bakersfield and hear the ball games coming our of most houses and most small stores. No one had A/C, just swamp coolers so the sounds inside the homes washed down the streets. It's what we did.
We are diferent now, just not so sure we are better for it.:(

You grew up in Bakersfield? Did you ever see Buck Owens in his heyday, around the time of Together Again or Act Naturally? Or maybe Merle?
