SPACEX ROCKET LAUNCH TO LIGHT SKY AT 7:21 PM ROCTOBER 7

mtgoat666 - 10-7-2018 at 09:58 AM

A two-stage SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket topped by Argentina's SAOCOM-1A satellite is scheduled to launch from California's Vandenberg Air Force Base at 10:21 p.m. EDT (7:21 p.m. local California time; 0221 GMT on Oct. 8). If all goes according to plan, less than 9 minutes after liftoff, the Falcon 9's first stage will come back to Earth safely at SpaceX's "Landing Zone 4" facility at Vandenberg. You can watch the launch live at Space.com, courtesy of SpaceX, or directly via SpaceX. Coverage will start about 20 minutes before liftoff.

Should be visible from so cal and Baja norte, maybe parts of baja sur weather permitting, if the stars align

Hope so, thanks!

We are in Baja Norte and saw the last West Coast launch from San Felipe it was spectacular!

Does the rocket need a passport to land, I think it will cross the border on the way south:bounce:
I'm still amazed at how they land a pencil upright after going over 5,000 mph straight up:light:

When these guys launch, they always head south -- I will get some great views from the beach near LAX. Added this to my calendar (so I don't have to depend on my brain cell to remember).

Going to El Porto in three hours for the event. Just back from a beach bike ride and zero hint of fog or low clouds now.

Sandy Eggo has puffy clouds but patches of blue sky. Coronados not visible.

Clouds clearing from south to north! Popcorn ready with an ice cold Stone Delicious to wash it down!

Outstanding launch!!!

Very cool/spectacular from Punta Chivato. I only caught the last 3 or so minutes but it was really clear with a huge plume trailing it. Didn't see the first stage return though. So Many stars out I couldn't pick it out . O maybe I just missed the 1st stage completely.

Edguero - 10-7-2018 at 07:43 PM

Awesome view from Oceanside!!!!

mtgoat666 - 10-7-2018 at 07:45 PM

Spectacular from east county San Diego. The dog even took note and barked at it

Three streaks off the main tail. So very epic what humans can do when they have a common goal. Cant post a photo cuz myiPhone exceeds the chitty boundaries imposed here, but I digress!

BornFisher - 10-7-2018 at 07:52 PM

Why is the time wrong on these nomad posts?
The rocket launch was 7:20 and evey post is showing an earlier time? Are we in the twilight zone 😳

You are in Daylight Savings Time, almost the Twilight Zone! During Daylight Savings months, set your Nomad clock to Mountain Time (if you are in California).

gracias Goat for letting us know...it was spectacular in Asuncion too although out here on the rock, it dashed behind a big black cloud that was looming just offshore.
People sure freak out if they dont know what it is...social media lit up! Next time I will post it on FAcebook for the locals so they wont be caught offguard.

Fully wanted to see it but I was thinking it was tonight!
Baja Angel and I spent the weekend moving furniture from her mom's storage in Palm Desert to our new home and we were exhausted! We talked about it even... LOL!
Thanks for the photos. From our San Marcos place, I took several last time and posted them here. Stage separation was cool to watch.
