Calabgata y Winos

Don Jorge - 10-17-2018 at 09:18 AM

Rode Saturday with the gang in the area of oak canyon lands and chapparal hillsides around and to Rancho El Tule. El Tule is an old rancho near Ensenada, and getting nearer every day, located on the road to Ojos Negros.
It was a drizzly, cloudy day, perfect for both two and four legged creatures alike.

The food after the ride was delicious, ranch made barbacoa and carnitas. Even the horses wanted some!

Sunday visited Decantos Winery in valley de Guadalupe. My friends niece is the general manager there and we were received with abrazos and some perks too. I have been to this place many times as they have a nice outdoor area with great views of the valley and no one freaks out if you or me smoke a cigar. It is still my favorite winery in the area, mostly for the views and good vibe from the young, pretty people of Baja.

We are always amazed at the changes in the valley and although I am no wine connoisseur they make a very drinkable Tempranillo. That is good enough for me.

Picture of us, Mike and Martha and myself, in the reserve bottle room. Mike is Raquels brother, Larry's cuñado, originally from Chihuahua and loves all things equine. Martha his wife is from a pioneer poultry family in Ensenada and San Antonio de as Minas. We have been friends for almost 40 years.

Wine storage and wine making is done underground 12 meters in caverns dug into the dg hillside.

Highly recommend Decantos for a quick getaway!
