I had 3 different Chevy 4x4 PUs of that vintage. Stone age comfort and very, very thirsty.

I too fell for GM's promotion of this t**d. Finally had the sense to walk away after it made me walk for the last time. Big tires do not a monster make. Now we are going to hear from someone that got 300k trouble free.

Nice.

I had a 1980 chevy 3/4 ton with a Six Pack cabover. More power and better gas mileage with the smog pump off.

These rigs where tuff but the big time weakness the overdrive trans. We would trash the trans put in turbo 400 trans good to go.

These campers were generally put in the "Chinook" category. The design made alot of sense for wind resistance and were lightish in weight. Really early gen 1 Toyota pickups had this Chinook design. To me they have Baja offroad written all over them. Doesnt seem to be anything made in this sort for many years now. I like em alot.
