We've always maneuvered around through town and approached from the east but I've seen here recently that the road to the northbound crossing from the
east is either under construction or something to make it not driver friendly.
Last time we entered Baja at Mexicali east we saw quite a back up of U.S. bound traffic approaching the crossing from the west.
Recent info?

As of 10/29 --
The general public lanes can be accessed from the east, Sentri and Ready lanes from the west. Be advised there is construction at the last major
intersection leading to the east approach. If you are driving from the south on Calle Novena or west on Calzada Cetys you cannot get to the road
heading to the east approach. You would need to travel toward the airport and make a Uturn then turn right onto Calzada Rodriguez. It's about 1/2
mile to the Uturn point and semis were making the turn so it's not a huge problem.

The two times I used Mexicali East to return to the USA, I simply drove north from the traffic circle, past the Hotel Lucerna, as we do to get to the
west crossing. One block before the border fence road (which is a one-way street to the west) we used the one-way street going east (Calle Argentina?)
as a non-confusing way to easily get to the newer border. It may be a mile or more longer but no confusion!
