can take him on? He is able and willing. Oh...me too! Thanks DK

The sulfur mine is an excellent hiking area... see http://vivabaja.com/shell as well as the end of http://vivabaja.com/204 for photos.
Go to just before km.32 (Nuevo Mazatlan) and head WEST 4.5 miles to the old Puertecitos road, at the sulfur mine.
Show him how rocks can burn... bring matches... don't inhale the fumes!

Here's a picture digging in a sulpher hole. Bring a little pick ax & a bucket, and let him go!

This is the map produced by BajaLou of the San Felipe 250 race course. The race ran right through the sulfur mine vally on the old Puertecitos road
(between Race Mile 214 and 216.
RM 216 is the west end of the Bahia Santa Maria road... which reaches Mex. 5 at the noted Km. 31. You can easily see the small bay that was given the
name 'Santa Maria' about 1970 by Aniceto Maduena. See more photos and history at http://www.VIABAJA.com
RM 214 is the south end of the sulfur mining area, and a road goes from there to Km. 32 on Mex. 5, noted on image. This is the original access to
Nuevo Mazatlan (Agua de Chale) before the new road was built south of San Felipe in late 1982.
The best area to see sulfur samples is in the canyon, east of the hill on the east side of the race course about 1/2 mile north of RM 214.
You also can easily see 'Shell Island' in this image (the thin beach parallel to the coast, with long narrow Laguna Percebu on the north and Santa
Maria's back bay/lagoon on the south). A visit there at low tide would be a lot of fun for you guys! Access at Km. 26 (note real estate signs)...
drive east to the big beach (about 2.6 miles)... then walk down to the wet sand and go either direction... bring a big net bag or bucket!
