are we lost yet?

i'm just wondering if anyone recognizes this place on the way down to gonzaga bay......its one of those places that from high up on the road you look down and see tire tracks and wonder how the hell did they get down there?

I hiked through it last year. I forget the volcano it sits next too, my almanac isn't in front of me, but the volcano is just to the left of frame and to the right of frame is a nice point to drive out on and park/camp.

Cerro Prieto (has a crater at its top, per the Lower California Guidebook):D

Yea, I have spent a lot of time camped at that point to the right that Ursidae mentions (by the way, good to see you here pal!) and actually camped there with Ursidae69 himself one year!

I know what you mean about tire tracks, and IMO, this is not the place for them. This is almost like a retention basin, that collects water from runoff, as well as underground - and tire tracks really blemish the beautiful view that you took that shot of from the road, and I imagine they stay visible for quite a long time. That view is a real treat when you come around that corner!

Volcan Prieta - I have hiked to the top with my wife - it's really neat up there! She found a crystal arrowhead on the side of the volcano.

What??? And we haven't seen it (the arrowhead) yet?

Geez, I can only imagine how many times you have seen that view from the road mister Bufeo...

Sorry - we don't have the arrowhead. Dang, I don't think we even took any pictures of it. It was clear crystal - really cool. I wonder how hard it is to work quartz crystal into a point?

yankeeirishman - 3-29-2005 at 12:32 PM

Did you find a Obsidian Arrowhead ?

I knew that you wouldn't have it in possession, but I meant that on our frequent trips along there and walks/hikes off the side that D missed that point!!! She must be losing her touch.

Everytime I go by

seems like I have a picture from every trip I've passed that spot - I really want to camp down there and I have seen the road that goes to it - seemed doable to me. Maybe next time (or the time after)
