For allegedly trying to bribe municipal police, after intercepting him for not stopping at a stop sign in the Los Encinos subdivision, elements of the Municipal Police arrested the person who called himself Erick Enrique "N", 20 years old.

The head of the Directorate of Municipal Public Safety (DSPM), Jorge Íñiguez Díaz, announced that at 18:09 hours on December 8, officers observed on prolongation Ruiz and Calle Sauce, a vehicle circulating in marked excess of speed.

PROCEDURE TO INTERVENE
At the moment when the driver did not respect a graphic stop sign, the uniformed personnel proceeded to the intervention with audible and visible signals. When they explained the cause of discomfort, the driver allegedly replied "this I fix with money".

According to the police report, he gave them a 500 peso bill and a 50 peso bill. The officers told him to get off the car, placed hand locks and read rights to Erick Enrique "N".

Subsequently, the agents initiated the certificate of assurance, chain of custody and packing of a 500 peso bill and one of 50 pesos.

Both the youth and the tickets were placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General's Office (PGJE), the official concluded.

In Mexico? No way!

Paco Facullo - 12-10-2018 at 09:08 AM

Thar Go's the neighborhood !!

sancho - 12-10-2018 at 09:19 AM

Isn't the mordida suggestion generally initiated by the cop? As
in 'you could pay me and you would save time'

Paco Facullo - 12-10-2018 at 09:27 AM

Sancho,
you are exactly right. The cop most likely thought ( with the way things are a changing lately ) that he was getting "set-up" .....

chuckie - 12-10-2018 at 09:42 AM

Another GREAT tradition gone? What next? Outlaw Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer?

AKgringo - 12-10-2018 at 09:55 AM

An additional offense was offering an insultingly small mordida, and there was also a 'punk kid' factor involved!

thebajarunner - 12-10-2018 at 10:01 AM

Cop probably saw someone watching, even perhaps the all pervasive phone/cam being directed his way.

Plus, as noted, proper protocol says "How can we work this out?" Not an initial offer of cash....

bajabuddha - 12-10-2018 at 10:16 AM

The kid is probably a Mexican National, rather than a deep-pocket fat cat gringo. I've noticed a definite double standard of law enforcement in Baja, just sayin'.

Another speculation fiesta....

Isn't that why we hang around here??

This dialogue is a major improvement over other recent threads
At least we are talking about Baja
and all expressing some form of memory or knowledge of how things happen down there...

Hook - 12-10-2018 at 12:32 PM

The guy was a mordida novice.

You wait for them to bring it up (or you ask if you can pay the fine right now) and YOU PLACE THE MONEY INSIDE THE CAR ON THE CONSOLE, so that he can pick it up, unobserved, while "searching" the car.

No it's not, it running down the Mexican police, and Mexican bashing as usual!

Now there is no love lost with me with Mexican cops, who I think many or most are corrupt and looking for bribes. At least I know how to deal with Mexican cops.

Now if I call a cop in the US, a pig, many here would get upset!

But if I had a choice between being stopped by a US cop at a speed trap, or a Mexican cop, looking for a bribe, I rather get stopped by a Mexican cop, because I know I could probably drive away with only a $40 loss, and the US cop stop, will put me back about $400 dollars including traffic school.

And if I were black, all bets would be off. I would fear of either getting beat up or shot by a racist US cop, because it's that bad in urban neighborhoods.

Is no thread safe from this guy?

Joe, go away

stick to nasty threads
not ones that are fun to discuss and speculate

This is a nasty thread and what has attracted me to this thread.

BTW, comparing Mexico with the USA, is a time honored thing among ugly Americans, so when I compare racist pig US cops, to thieving mordida seeking Mexican cops, I'm doing something that time honored around here.

But yes, I have things to do, so carry on.

JZ - 12-10-2018 at 04:03 PM

We always travel with 1 or 2 Mexican nationals on pretty much every trip. They take care of us with loading bikes, driving the chase truck, cooking, changing tires, etc.

I let them hand out the bribes.

Keeps the economy flowing!

Don't Worry !

MrBillM - 12-10-2018 at 06:06 PM

Mordida will NEVER Die !

Over the decades, the GREAT convenience has survived ALL of the attempts to eradicate it.

As noted by numerous others, the person who was the subject of this thread was a novice(?) Dummy.

Unlike those of us who have long experienced satisfaction with the "facilitation" procedure.

Anyone else notice the irony of a certain OT 'missing link' lately (that's still lurking and checking posts but not allowed to post) and the rest of the pond scum is back-flushing into the real world of Nomads? Must be pretty boring in the OT lately. So the pathos continues, and so the rest must suffer the slings and arrows of troll content.

It's nice isn't it?

Now some of us are tying to clean up the so-called nice area of this forum.

I remember you were once a member of the OT, but you left claiming some PTSD flashbacks after some members of the OT engaged you.

weebray - 12-11-2018 at 11:32 AM

I guess I'm one of the ones that considers BN entertainment. By an incredible stroke of luck no one is forcing me to read all this rubbish. Sorry if I left you out, some of you I ignore. Keep on ranting Joe, some of it is tiring but I like the way you twist the knife. BTW don't forget; when the cops show up on "el otro lado", first thing they do is yank your baby out of your arms and shoot your dog. SOP these days.
