Reports of thievery ?David K - 12-14-2018 at 12:06 PM
Until you get a newer report, here is what I saw in 2017:
It was a great looking beach! Yes, I heard rumors of theft here on Nomad. I was very tempted to stay a day here... but this was a working trip!

That's Punta Chivato in the distance.
Good solid camping spot, south of the fish camp/ ranch.
Road at K150+ and 3 miles to the beach. KurtG - 12-14-2018 at 12:30 PM
I have never camped there but it is one of my favorite day visit beaches. Over the years I have rarely encountered anybody there. It is a beautiful
beach. David K - 12-14-2018 at 04:03 PM
very sandy...the road is not too friendly but passable
only a very few fishermen out there
beach is really soft
if you get in trouble you are on your own
no cell service in the area
For some of us, that makes it nearly perfect!Mulege Canuck - 12-14-2018 at 04:16 PM
Last year there was a gate up. We could not get through. Not sure if anyone has tried to get past the gate. Great beach. Best campsite is right at
the south end of the brushed in road. We have never had any problems with theft there.4x4abc - 12-14-2018 at 05:08 PM

where was the gate?Mulege Canuck - 12-14-2018 at 05:17 PM
It was right at the highway turnoff. That was in March of 2018.
Does anyone know if you can get through it now?David K - 12-14-2018 at 06:27 PM
It was signed as a playa publica is, like along Bahia Conception. Shows you how quickly things change. This is also why a forum like Nomad is so
valuable to travelers.
Three miles is a pretty long walk, Bob. The ranch at the end of the road, to the left, had a camping area.

Gated and locked at the highway. You can still access the beach via the Paola Verde road to PC. Beautiful !! 4x4abc - 12-15-2018 at 01:04 PM

how do you get to Playa Santa Ines from Punta Chivato? Don't you have to cross an Estero? Or is there a new road?mooose29 - 12-16-2018 at 01:40 AM
Getting there from shell beach or Punta Chivato you would have to cross the mouth of the estuary and I have certainly never had the balls to cross it
in a truck. I did cross it once at very low tide on my dirt bike. Russ - 12-16-2018 at 04:31 AM
There is a trail/road just in from Palo Verde. It's obvious but not signed. I haven't been out it for quite awhile but it now appears that there is
traffic on it now. When I last rode it it came out on the Santa Inez road at the quarry near Mex 1. It was definitely a trail back then though. Good
reason to take a ride and check it out. DouglasP - 12-16-2018 at 05:27 AM
Like Russ says above, there is a road in as you head out to Punta Chivato. It is right where the abandoned hydroponic site is. Be prepared for some
scratches to your vehicle. Overgrown on the way in. Worth it though.
The other thing is on our way back and forth to Mulege, sometimes the gate from Hwy 1 is open, sometimes it is closed. Someone has painted
p u t o on one of the posts, seems the locals aren't happy about the gate.

This is becoming like the "Forbidden Beach" now.
I must go there!fishbuck - 12-16-2018 at 12:46 PM
Can I rent a donkey to carry my cooler and beach chair from the hiway?
I don't mind a nice little 3 mile walk through the desert to the beach.
But who is going to carry my beach toys?
How much is a daily rent on a donkey? fishbuck - 12-16-2018 at 12:48 PM
A Zonkey would be better because they always know where to get weed!
Are there any Zonkeys in Mulege?nandopedal - 4-1-2019 at 12:33 PM
Update: Camped there last week for two nights....beautiful, nobody around, the gate was closed but not locked.David K - 4-1-2019 at 12:36 PM

Awesome!Mulege Canuck - 4-1-2019 at 12:43 PM
I sailed there from Mulege in mid March. Saw someone camping here. I asked around in town and it sounds like a lot of people are opening the gate
and going through.fishbuck - 4-1-2019 at 12:49 PM
Well, I guess that's the end of the zonky carrying beach toys business.
Good thing Zonky has another marketable skill. He learned it from his dad growing up in Tijuana...
He can always tell you where the best weed can be found...
And where the cute girl donkeys are at...
