I dont think that's out of the ordinary, given the date you crossed.
That was the weekend after New Years and lots of people were returning that weekend at ALL border crossings, so as to get back to work on Monday. I

YES the wait is longer. Many lanes were closed on Saturday, Jan. 5 and lines were LONG and SLOW. The Internet CBP "BORDER WAIT TIMES" site is bogus.
Site said San Ysidro wait time was 55 minutes. We were in line 3.5 hours. Miserable. Sucking fumes. Got headaches. Ended up pulling off for a San
Diego motel instead of continuing north.
