Famous Motorcyclist Struck by Golf Cart in Death Valley

fishbuck - 1-30-2019 at 01:14 PM

Best wishes for Malcolm. A hero of mine for many years since I was a kid.

LancairDriver - 1-30-2019 at 01:20 PM

After surviving the danger of winning record number of races to be taken down by a golf cart driven by his golfing partner is the worst.
Hope his injuries quickly heal and he soon returns to enjoying his retirement.

Who said golf wasn't a contact sport?

Let's hope for a speedy recovery.

second racer who gets hurt by a toy-mobile

thebajarunner - 1-30-2019 at 04:39 PM

I gave up golf when I went off road racing.... True story!!

Now I know why

basautter - 1-30-2019 at 05:08 PM

That really stinks! Malcom Smith is one of the greats. I hope he is ok. I am doing a dual sport rally in two weeks (Cathouse Crawl). Going to keep an eye out for rouge carts....

I think the one that hit MS was white.

I've met him several times in Baja, super nice guy. Hope for a swift recovery, it would suck to get taken out on the golf course after all he has done.

bajatrailrider - 1-30-2019 at 09:54 PM

I have rode motos with him one of the nicest persons ever. Best wishes fast recovery.

mtgoat666 - 1-31-2019 at 07:24 AM

Golfing, golf carts and drinking are all great fun until someone gets hurt!

The only sport i know where the venue operator sells drinks to vehicle drivers and allows drunk driving :bounce:

Timinator - 1-31-2019 at 10:45 AM

Crap, I was hoping it wasn't going to be Malcolm.

BornFisher - 1-31-2019 at 01:48 PM

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

DanO - 1-31-2019 at 04:18 PM

Golf can be deadly. I've torn rib cartilage in a fall from a speeding golf cart (two untouched adult beverages were also tragically lost in that mishap), got a wicked hematoma when I was hit in the thigh by someone else's errant tee shot (lesson learned: hit the deck when you hear "fore!"), and knocked myself out cold with a Ping Eye putter (don't even ask). You gotta be careful out there. :O

Hope Malcolm gets well soon. His performance in "On Any Sunday" gave me the dirt biking bug when I was a kid.

AKgringo - 1-31-2019 at 04:27 PM

He got run over by his golf partner! If I was investigating that accident, I would want to know just how much they had wagered on that round. :o

I hope he makes a full, and speedy recovery!

TMW - 1-31-2019 at 05:46 PM

I hope he makes a speedy recovery. Same here with "On Any Sunday". I still watch it every few months.

bajabuddha - 2-1-2019 at 09:09 AM

The word "golf" was created because all other four-letter words were already taken.

LancairDriver - 2-1-2019 at 11:57 AM

Probably behind the cart putting his driver up after winning the longest drive bet.
Hope he is back in action soon.

willardguy - 2-1-2019 at 12:10 PM

a rough start to the new year for a few Malcolms! :(
