FMM at Mexicali

Friends need to get them. There's a new crossing there, has anyone gotten them there? Is the office on left or right? Signage?
Thanks in advance!

There was 4 weeks or so after the New Mexicalli West crossing
opened, that an Immigration office was not operational,
several reports recently from San Felipe say there now is an Office
at New West crossing on the left after the red/green lite
entering Mex, I'll go with that

Many reports already posted on Nomad say the new Mexicali (west or #1) border INM office is on the LEFT (as before at the old crossing) but with LOTS of parking this time!

As soon as you get thru where they would check you car, park and walk back. On the left side going in and they will take you money right at the counter, even filled out the paperwork for us.

Thanks everyone!

There is a parking lot on the left before the red/green light lanes. It is more convenient since the office entrance is there at the north end of the building. I was directed to a place to park after the customs check and it was a little awkward to get out because they had to stop traffic so I could back up into the lane exiting inspections. No signage for anything, if you were wondering, as of six weeks ago.

Yes, like in Tijuana, I understand it is better for the INM office that you park on the north side of the building before the red/green lights gate.

INM is immigration, where you get your FMM tourist card.

When you are done and (then) drive through the red/green gate, and get a red light, that is to check for you bringing anything that may require paying duty so a quick inspection typically.

You can bring personal use items while on vacation but if you have anything that looks like it could be for resale in Mexico or available in Mexico from a Mexican business (appliances, electronics other than your laptop, etc.) then that is not part of being a tourist on vacation (FMM holder) and expect to pay the tax.

Passed thru yesterday...parked after the checking area on left (east) side (lots of parking) and walked back north to building entry. Everybody very friendly and helpful. Did not have enough pesos to spare...they charged us $33 US each

I saw that space you probably parked in. They had me pull over right next to the inspection area. Hopefully they're getting the kinks worked out. The INM office was just up and running when I went through.
