Bahía Concepción to La Purísima and San Juanico

I wrote this trip up for Discover Baja - went in my Tacoma scouting for an off-road motorcycle trip and also I wanted to try surfing while the waves are small in San Juanico. I got there the hard way, all off-road and some challenging water crossings, and came back via the highway. I loved this trip and will head out again soon with a detour to Comandu and environs. https://www.discoverbaja.com/2019/02/04/trip-bahia-concepcio...

Great report
brings back memories of the first couple of 1000s I ran, down through San Ignacio, Cuarenta, Cadeje, Purisima and all the rest.
Back in those days there was no paved bypass as an option to give you some relief,
but it was all good!!!

Thank you for the Discover Baja article, I read it when it was published. I drove that route but from Purísima to Hwy. 1/ Concepción in 2017. The roadbed was very rough but that view of the valley was super-great...

There is a lot of water there... is that the norm?

Yes, I think the La Purísma river is always well watered?

Nice write up! Done some of those roads but need to get back in there again. You make it look enticing. Bill and Gus are awesome!

What a detailed and informative trip report! We did the drive once in a 4 wheel drive car from San Ignacio to San Juanico and somehow took the wrong road. We were later told that even the Baja 1000 folks don't recommend it!

There were huge boulders and moon dust. We were not adequately prepared food nor water-wise. I really thought we would die there that day.
