I remember going to Canada with my folks when I was sixteen. At that time, the only way you could buy cold beer was to sit down in an establishment and drink it right there. I remember my Dad commenting how expensive the beer was up there (nothing's changed, apparently  )

Anyway, I also recall him having to buy warm beer at some kind of package sales store, taking it back to the hotel room and filling the bathroom sink with water and ice and throwing the beer in.

This thought never left me, "here is this country that's basically cold all the time, AND YOU CANT GET A COLD BEER TO GO???!!!! WTF???

Paco Facullo - 4-25-2019 at 01:18 PM

Instead of like the English " Cold sandwiches and warm beer "

The Mexico version will be "Cold taco's and warm beer"

Sorry if some of you are not old enough to remember the English version, but most of you are....:bounce:

"warm beer and bread they say could raise the dead".......JB

Why do the English drink warm beer?

Lucas refrigerators.

bajabuddha - 4-25-2019 at 03:17 PM

Back in The Day most Mexicanos preferred their cerveza 'temprano'.

I wonder what they're gonna do for vehicle acondicionado in Tierra del Juevos Hielados (Mexicali). :(

Baja California and BCS would secede before any of that Mexico City nonsence came about :o
Viva Baja !

basautter - 4-25-2019 at 05:29 PM

The Philippines is the only place I have been where no cold beer could be found. San Miguel on ice, that's nice! Ok, it was the 80's.

It sounds like Utah where you can't buy a bottle of cold wine. The State run liquor stores don't even have coolers.

mxracer50 - 4-26-2019 at 05:38 AM

I see America isn't the only place that has incredibly stupid lawmakers!

I buy a lot of wine, but cannot remember buying it from a refrigerator case for immediate consumption.
If the wine is not refrigerated, seems pretty simple to put it on ice or in fridge at home, eh?

That law in Baja never happen good joke. Like the new law no plastic bags. That lasted two days now the stores have them again

Baja towns are filthy messes due to litter. Mexico would be wise to pass laws to prevent littering, because it is apparent that too many Mexicans are slobs that litter willy nilly.
Plastic bag bans are good. People can be trained to use reusable bags, even knuckle draggers like bajalitterbugtrailrider

Hong Kong 1959 the China Fleet Club. We would drink with British and Aussie sailors. The Brits had to order 3 or 4 beers ahead to let them warm. Like us, the Aussies drank it cold.
We would play 'The Battle of New Orleans' over and over to get their goat. They were good guys and would respond 'Go home Yanks'. The only fights I saw was between USA Destroyer sailors vs the USA Aircraft Carrier wimps.

I remember those days with English cars. I used a hammer to get the electical system working.

TedZark - 4-29-2019 at 11:11 AM

You'll get my cold beer when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.

Paco Facullo - 4-29-2019 at 11:40 AM

1972 aboard the USS Decatur DDG-31 (a guided missile Destroyer) steaming in the South China Sea...

Well one fine day we did and exchange of sailors for the day with a British ship just for educational purposes. Well I was an HT (snipe) and when we visited the Brits ship we were treated to a party of sorts complete with beer. The British sailors are rationed, I believe, two pints a day and the sailors had saved up their beers for this glorious occasion.

The beer was warm but we all LOVED it just the same , we all had some great laughs and a good time was had by all !
For those of you that don't know it is strictly forbidden to have ANY alcohol on board ship.

For a long time now, whenever I'm at a bar (mostly in South East Asia)
and meet any Brit sailors I buy them all their beers while i'm there.

Ah, I remember my 1966 Triumph TR4A IRS with great fondness, now that enough time has passed to almost make me forget the torment I suffered keeping that thing running (I spent more time tuning and re-tuning the damn carburetors than I spent with my girlfriend). I wouldn't wish Lucas electric components on my worst enemy.

... than I spent tuning my girlfriend.:lol:

I had a TR6 at the time. Same problems with the carburetors (Stromberg). That thing never ran right, but my friends envied me. One said "It was like getting into a rocket". Sold it and bought a plain old 67 VW beetle.
