A few sections where you really don't want to have trouble.

David K - 5-11-2019 at 02:27 PM

Off Road racing isn't nearly as risky as in the good old days. Now there is: satellite tracking devices, 2-way radio, satellite phones, helicopters, and the Weatherman up at the observatory.

StuckSucks - 5-16-2019 at 10:58 AM

Here's the course, embedded in Google Maps.

TMW - 5-16-2019 at 11:43 AM

What hasn't changed is what some of the stupid spectators and racers do on race day. You just can't fix stupid.

And, alcohol turbocharges stupid.

Come, watch the race and witness "natural selection" in real-time as a bonus ....

fishbuck - 5-16-2019 at 04:15 PM

How close can I get to a racing Trophy Truck without getting killed?
Are there rules?
How about guidelines?

I thinking 1 foot away would be as exciting as I can take... but easy to miscalculate...
5 feet just seems too far...;)
How about laying under a jump... in a fox hole?
Too close?

fishbuck - 5-16-2019 at 04:16 PM

I hope I can see some this year.
The noise alone will keep me back.:D

John Harper - 5-16-2019 at 05:14 PM

I'd rather see stupid spectators killed than have them building hazards along the route that could kill a racer.

John

TMW - 5-16-2019 at 05:31 PM

Point taken.

SFandH - 5-16-2019 at 05:50 PM

I wish they would the run race counter-clockwise for a change

greengoes - 5-22-2019 at 12:37 PM

Inspection, start, and finish out of Estero Beach. It is going to be a desmadre.

Say a prayer for Chapultepec.

The good news is Costero won't be fuxored for five or six days. :)

ehall - 5-22-2019 at 01:24 PM

Anyone going to be watching near race mile 180 or 190 or Borrego? Thinking about coming down for a couple days.

TMW - 5-22-2019 at 06:18 PM

We'll be at RM173 helping Nomad Tunaeater. He is racing a bike and gets on there and gets off at San Matias. I think he is then going to the finish line so we'll probably head back to Borrego and watch the race for a while.

Camping? How do you access 173? Backwards on the course?

The Ejido Saldaña/ Tres Pozos road at the sand dunes.

I know where that road is. Always wanted to see where it went. Thanks David.

David K - 5-23-2019 at 07:32 AM

It is how you can get to Cohabuzo Jcn. I went that way to get to Guadalupe Canyon from San Felipe. Back then, there was deep silt and it was really rough between Laguna Salada and Cohabuzo. That was in late 2001, probably after the Baja 1000 used it? It would have been faster to go around the long way on the highway and down the dry lake.

This map shows the two other ways to Guadalupe Canyon from the south.

TMW - 5-23-2019 at 08:26 AM

We'll go in at Hwy 5 KM87. I'll be with the squarecircle (Roy). We may stay south of San Felipe the night before the race at Paul's dads place. Rudy and his neighbor will join us. Then we plan to head up to Mike's Sky Ranch on Sunday and out to El Coyote. Just checking things out for a Nov. trip a group of us are taking.

Well, I’m not going to take this line on race day! This is why we prerun. Thankfully a lot of locals helped us. In the end we needed a tractor to get this 6400 pound beast out of the mud! I’m always amazed and grateful for all the fans in Baja! #baja500

I was hoping someone would bring this up today.

David K - 6-1-2019 at 01:58 PM

Looks like the top 4 Trophy Trucks are past Mike's Sky Rancho. Andy McMillin and other McMillins are the front three and Cameron in #4. Bryce Menzies and Robby Gordon are the next two, north of Mike's.

why? the real shows in Thunder Valley!

fishbuck - 6-1-2019 at 02:15 PM

You know it.
I saw some Pala last night.
Wow!
I never ride the National track there.
Jumps too big, to scary, and hard to launch from.
Ofcourse Eli and the boys make it look easy. It think to key is to ride superhuman fast on that track. His dad helped him with that part.
My best bud, ended his moto career on that track. With a helicopter ride...
We call that " doing it wrong" in the motocross biz...

Check out Instagram. The helicopter can barely keep up with Cameron...

Thanks Willard, that's Cameron, sharing the scoop on his damaged lines at Camalu south Pemex.

fishbuck - 6-2-2019 at 01:09 PM

Sorry to hear about it Cameron and crew. The truck was flying in the video on Instagram.

My favorite Pemex on my way out of town.
I like the car in the video but couldn't figure out what it was.
Orange mirrors:coolup:

Best rodeside report.

why? the real shows in Thunder Valley!

Watching 450 Moto2 now.
Beautiful track. Perfect moisture. But deep ruts a little difficult.
But perfect Motocross.
Can't wait for the gate drop.

Cause "when the gate drops... the BS stops!:D

fishbuck - 6-2-2019 at 03:20 PM

I love it when Baja racing and Motocross are the same weekend.

This will result in a new motocross bike and spending money on my truck.

Is Baja 500 on tv anytime soon.
Seems cool because it's more of a sprint.
Pushing the trucks harder takes it's toll...

fishbuck - 6-2-2019 at 04:48 PM

The finish of Baja 500.
Likes like Estero Beach closed course and past the grandstands.
This is a link.
Not sure how to make it live.

HUGE tip of the sombrero to KRoc on the red plate! watch out for ZachO!

fishbuck - 6-3-2019 at 12:30 PM

I love that.
It was soo moto!
Tough to pick a bike right now. I always go Japanese bike...
Tomac is an absolute machine now. A well oil, well trained machine.
I love Ken's fling the bike forward style... fun to watch.
So many talented riders now.
And those bikes!

Lots of cool Baja 500 vids and pics on Instagram.
The Mcmillian trucks didn't get a scratch. They look perfect.
