tourist visa

Hey Guys,

Do I need a tourist visa if im going to scammons lagoon? Is that right before the state line or right after, cant remember? Im only going to be in baja for 5 days. What is the easiest way to get one, can I just do it in Guerrero Negro?

you can git it in Guerrero Negro but watch out for the Mexican holidays they will be closed at least 3 days next week.

If you are traveling more than 75 miles south of the border or staying longer than 72 hours (3 days) you must have one

Ok, I know you are supposed to get one but i have been going to gonzaga for years and have never had a problem. When I drove to cabo they check them at Guerrero Negro (state line). My question is... Will I be crossing that line if the farthest im going is Mallarimos in Guerrero Negro and scammons lagoon? Thanks

you have been lucky for years.

you are in a another country stay legal.

in Mexico if you are picked up for anything you are guilty until you can prove you are Innocent. some times that is hard to do.

Get a map. Guerrero Negro is in Baja Sur. Scammons is south of Guerrero Negro. There is a dirt road just south of the airport that will get you around the immigration check at the stateline and you can save your 20 something dollars.

Hey Bajalou,

Asking questions on a board to gain information is in no way complaining about the illegal immigrants in california so you can stop trying to makeing yourself feel so rightous by writing things like that. And im sure all of you guys have tourist visas everytime you go 75 miles into baja or for more than 72 hours, because your all such little :saint:'s. I appreciate the information as that is the purpose of this board, and I will definetely get a visa because based on the valuable info, It definetely sounds much safer in every way.

Do get the AAA Baja map and the Baja Almanac map book, with them you will have a better trip;)

Top off your fuel tank at El Rosario (220 miles south of the border)... the motel next to the Pemex (Baja Cactus Motel) is a great place to crash for the night.:light:

You guys are the Baja experts. I'll be leaving Encinitas at 3am so I should make it by 3pm. After that we'll be doing some fishing in L.A. Bay on the 25th and 26th, staying at Doc's place. If anyone wants to share a panga, let me know.

For a stay of 7 days or less there is no charge for the permit. At least that was my most recent experience.

Just came back form Guerrero Negro last week, and there are no fee ($20) if you stay less than 7 days..

They didn't even check at the GN border - either No. or So. - crossing last week. No agriculture spraying, no fruit check.

All is well in San Felipe - Bimbo is being delivered and Imigration is open for business as usual. Not a holiday for them here.
