Mexico is living through a security “emergency” unseen since the Mexican Revolution, the secretary of public security said yesterday.
Speaking at the launch of a regional security plan in Apatzingán, Michoacán, Alfonso Durazo said that a large part of the wave of insecurity
plaguing Mexico is the result of the corruption of security forces.
“For many years, violence and crime have been supported by the deviance of officials, who shelter and protect criminal groups and their conduct, and
the result has been the most serious crisis of violence that our country has experienced, perhaps since the Mexican Revolution,” he said.
Last year was the most violent year on record, with more than 33,000 homicides, and the murder rate in the first quarter of 2019 was up almost 10%
compared to the same period of 2018.
“Insecurity isn’t an issue [that arose] today or yesterday, it’s the result of an accumulation of years that will take time to correct but
we’re 100% determined to [find] the solution, without losing a minute,” Durazo said.
The secretary described the situation as an “emergency” and declared that “unity is fundamental” to combat the high levels of violent crime.
No political or ideological pretext can take precedence over the responsibility to guarantee public security and to put an end to impunity, Durazo
added.
“The fight against crime is a matter of the state and as such it requires the . . . political will of all,” he said.
The official explained that a gradual deployment of 4,050 members of the National Guard to Michoacán will begin in July to complement the state
security strategy and “guarantee as soon as possible reasonable standards of security and stability.”
There has been a spike in violence in the state in recent days including a clash between police and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in Zamora
on Sunday in which four officers were killed, and a confrontation between the CJNG and the Viagras gang in Uruapan last Wednesday that left 10 people
dead.
The recent violence “reminds us that criminal groups don’t stop in their attempt to distort the security [situation] and commit criminal acts,”
Durazo said.
“For those reasons, we must close ranks with complete determination to combat them, with intelligence and with a capacity for force.”

BajaRun, yes, the Joe Rogan interview was dope. I listened twice ( it's a long program ) I wanted to listen the second time for and bullcrap, i didn't
hear too much, Calderon seemed like a straight shooter. It's really sobering to hear all that crazy stuff happening 10 miles from my house here in San
Diego. Check it out, its "Joe Rogan experience # 1302. it's over an hour and a half, so put it on when you have a little time, pretty sure most on

I found that story from Ed Calderon, the supposedly former Tijuana Cop and Mexican Security Adviser, less than credible. Why didn't he just go to the
US and become a cop there? Why be a Mexican cop for peanuts and risk your life, if you have other options?
So this guy goes from Medical school, to become a Mexican cop in a few border regions. This guy claims he had special training, and background checks
from the FBI.
Well, good for him if he gets corporations and rich people who are scared of Mexico, to pony up a lot of money to make them feel safer in Mexico, and
give them tips how not to be kidnapped. After all Rudy Giuliani, makes millions providing Global Security Services around for world and for fat cats
with money to blow.
So it looks like a good business to get into if you have a good story to tell, and a background in policing.
I didn't watch the whole video because it's too long, but I found more written stuff about this Mexican Security Adviser, including a few Youtube
videos.
I'm not a street fighter, but I have watched MMA, and I wonder if the security advisers, signature "go-to-move" a strangulation is actually a good
move facing your opponent/victim face to face, where the Ed Calderon, the advisory first taps them on the chest, steps on their toe, and then goes
for the throat. My question, what's to keep the opponent from punching Calderon in the face, while he has one hand on his victim's throat?
I can't believe some people pay this guy good money for advice like this.

Step back or to the side.
Don't be there why the attack arrives.
And keep doing that.
Only strike if necessary to stop the attack. Then kill.
