Please don't laugh at me for asking - we are flying into Loreto in late February for San Ignacio whale watching with my sister and her husband. My
sister likes "resort" style properties. Any recommendations for a fancy butt resort style hotel in Loreto? Price is not an issue. David K - 7-4-2019 at 06:27 AM
not many full blown "resorts" in Loreto proper, but Hotel La Mision and Hotel Posada de Las Flores are quite fancy

Sorry, there simply aren’t any. Well, sorry for your plans, but not sorry Loreto remains resort free and not a Cabo...
Villas del Palmar is as close as you are going to come.
If money is no object, then renting a vehicle won’t be a problem.
There are some pretty fancy homes for rent in Loreto Bay. Again, not resort style (by which I think, but am not sure, you mean big pools with drink
service, room service, night clubs, etc)

villa de palamar 20 minutes south of town is a cabo style resort hotel with a shuttle that runs back and forth to town.
in town the La Mission is the "fanciest". On the malecon , walking distance to everything. Marc - 7-4-2019 at 11:22 AM
I wonder why the Presidente Hotel just south of Loreto was closed. I remember a nice beach with a dive shop and I think more than one swimming pool on
large grounds. A nice restaurant etc. All was impressive. Should have had a lot of customers. This was as I remember back 1979.msteve1014 - 7-4-2019 at 01:18 PM

We stayed there in the mid 1980s. It was great, but a long way from town, it seemed at the time.Lee - 7-4-2019 at 02:30 PM
x2 for La Mision on the Malecon and close to everything. Don't recommend staying out of town even if it's more resortish.JZ - 7-4-2019 at 09:26 PM
We stay at La Mision every time we go to Loreto. It is a really nice hotel. Be sure to get an ocean view on the 4th floor. Beautiful views.
Danzante Bay is very nice, but I wouldn't want to be stuck way down there.

Well, that never happened. Hasn’t been open anytime since I’ve been in Loreto, going on 13-14 years now. Ive heard it operated under several
other names until it suddenly closed. It’s been derelict ever since.

The Presidente, Eden, Whale's Inn, etc. has been mostly demolished. A little of the beach-side stuff still stands, but the actual hotel is all hauled
away rubble.BajaMama - 7-6-2019 at 08:03 PM
thanks all - I think we will go for Loreto Bay since it is closer to Loreto. BTW, this is just for my sister - she is a little high maintenance.
will be fun to get her to the eco lodge in San Ignacio!David K - 7-6-2019 at 09:56 PM
Oh boy, the yurts in San Ignacio may include wildlife experience! They sure have luxury appearance. I look forward to hearing how it all went.wilderone - 7-7-2019 at 07:37 AM
How long are you staying in Loreto until you leave for San Ignacio? You'll be bored to death at Loreto Bay. Sister needs an attitude adjustment -
stay in the best hotel in Loreto - go to the best restaurants - get the seafood platter - margaritas - walk the malecon - visit the church - embrace
what IS Baja Ca. What's not to like?JZ - 7-7-2019 at 08:26 AM

Don't stay in Loreto Bay. La Mision >>> Loreto Bay. Howard - 7-7-2019 at 08:57 AM
Heaven forbid that you sister chips a nail or her hair gets blown out of place. I am sure that La Mission hotel can call someone in and take care of
that emergency.
Just kidding around about your trying to please your sister.
STAY IN TOWN!TMW - 7-7-2019 at 01:39 PM
Sometimes it's best to not recommend anything and let them find out for themselves. In 1995 I was working sales in San Diego and the owners daughter
was the secretary wearing many hats, anyway her dad was coming to town and wanted to visit Ensenada with her. First time for both. She asked for a
recommendation for a good hotel. I told her that hotels in Baja were not the same as in the US that a good hotel in Baja would be more like a Motel 6.
If you want the Ritz you need to go to Cabo not Ensenada. She said she fully understood that. I told her that the San Nicolas was a good hotel. They
went down and Monday morning I asked her how the weekend went and she said that the San Nicolas was the worst hotel they had ever stayed at. They cut
their trip short and came home early. I just said Oh Well and walked off. I don't think she understood what I told her. JZ - 7-7-2019 at 02:53 PM
Hotel Marina Coral in Ensenada is the ta taas. Not sure if it was open in 1995, but has been one of my favorite hotels since the early 2000's.
Not the Ritz, but a really nice place. Great ocean views and big rooms with balconies. They email me deals for $99 all the time, which is a steal. StuckSucks - 7-8-2019 at 12:06 PM

YES! I have stayed at La Mision a hundred times and it's the best. Easy to walk anywhere in town. The town of Loreto is a great place.
I was once forced to stay at Loreto Bay south of town. It's sanitized and gringo-friendly, far from town. If you like living in compound without
outside influence, this is your place.
