A fire has been burning for several days. I have had difficulty getting updated info. It appears that the fire is 2-3 miles north of Rancho El Topo,
and about 20 miles south of La Rumorosa. The head of the fire has been moving ENE with the prevailing winds. Temperatures have been high and humidity
very low, making it very difficult to control. Rancho Los Gavilanes may have be safe. The next ranch to the north, Las Margaritas, may not have been
so fortunate.
On its current trajectory, the fire will cross the main dirt road between La Rumorosa and Laguna Hanson (Parque Nacional). It looks like it will miss
Cañón El Tajo. There are no major ranches in that path before it reaches the escarpment. The plateau is near 5,000' elevation, with pinyon pine,
chaparral and some Jeffrey pine trees.
The southwesterly wind is forecast to shift to the SE on Sunday through Wednesday.
Near real-time fire map:
45% gaining on it. Rough terrain. Hand to hand suppression technique in use. Got Shovels?

Just received an update from Rancho El Topo, July 19, 11:00 PM. Ranchos Los Gavilanes and Las Margaritas are safe. No ranches have burned, only
forest. The fire continues to move in a direction that is not populated. elgatoloco - 7-20-2019 at 09:52 AM
