Oh my... Tim was definitely one of the good ones. Very committed to protecting beautiful places in Baja. I was thinking about him recently- sorry to
read this.
I remember hearing about him in the 80s, from some of my friends who were guides for him. He had an office in San Diego. Then I met him in person, in
the 90s, in La Paz, after driving down from Ensenada.
A friend and I were looking for a way to get our kayaks out to the islands, and Tim let us load our kayaks on his dive boat, the night before a trip,
and ride out with his SCUBA clients.
He had the skipper drop us off before taking the rest of the group out to dive. I appreciated his generosity and flexibility.
Sigh... we lost a good one.
DEP Tim- thanks for introducing a lot of people to Baja's beauty.

"Colorful" does not begin to describe Tim Means
(and no, David, no relation to Doug, one of my first questions to our leader Bajanomad when I joined the board)
We spent a week on the "Don Jose" in Mag Bay so long ago that the date fades in memory. But what a week, whales and cervezas, and lots of fresh fish
and shrimp that Tim would cadge off the locals. Great memories
Tim also led trips up to the cave paintings in the Sierras. I kept promising him I would go, but never made it with him, although we did go up there
a few years ago on our own.
Tim was the real deal. And, some 40 years later, the picture looks about like he did back in the early 70s

Tim was a fixture in La Paz, and while a quiet man, he was incredibly kind and thoughtful. While I'm sure his son will carry-on his important work in

Timoteo was a neighbor, he had a special way of speaking Spanish and we all copy his accent, pos, every phrase, he allowed us to help and tag along
here and there and learn with Carlos. I hear the horn of Don Jose from my bed when it leaves port. It's hard to imagine the neighborhood without him.
I can't. We will always speak the same way and do good work, because just like he says, ... we have to.

as others have mentioned Tim was the real deal...a gracious, generous, humble man who was well loved and highly respected. Imagine a Baja full of
