September should be ideal. The temperatures are cooler at those higher elevations. Summer tourism should dwindle. Mosquitoes should have mostly died
off. Afternoon thundershowers are a potential problem. Watch weather reports for tropical storm remnants arriving from the south. In October, night
temperatures will drop.

I camped up there in October 2017, at 8,200 feet. There are several camping spots and they have fire rings, too. Even in summer, it gets very cold at

September its fine, also October and November a bit cold, just watch out for mexican holidays.
In Sept. holiday its on the 16th, meaning that from friday 13th to the 17th its gonna be loud, packed and filthy.

Sept and Oct are good. Even August not bad, as elevation makes air cooler. November (and rest of winter) good too, as you can make camp fires for
evening when cool or cold, and cool winter days are often best for comfortable hiking. You can watch weather forecast to avoid winter rains and snow

Was there last week for the first time. Arrived about 5 PM Monday, left about 12 noon Tues. Camped to the south of the main road. One other party of
campers on the north side. Very quiet and perfect weather. The overnight low was 50 degrees. When I started back, maybe 75 degrees but high 90`s down
in the low hills and valleys. 72 pesos to enter, I believe their hours are 7AM to 8PM so don`t be late!!

I have twice camped there in August and early Sept. Cool nights and perfect days 70-80f.

I've camped there in late October and temps got down into the 30s at night, but it was perfect during the day.

We camped there in July and last year in June
At exactly 4 p.m. the thunderstorm starts, every day in July
And it is a real peeer
Then in 20 minutes it clears up and is a mellow evening
Just sit in the cab of the truck after stashing all your gear
take a nap, wait it out
Gets a little chilly at night, but nothing like Catavina in February
There the ice is on the bag in the morning
Been there in February and March
Foot of snow on the ground at the entrance both years.

Halfway between Meling and the entrance are several wide pulloff areas on the south side of the highway
The ranger told us that they come at 10 a.m. so we sat for an hour.
They showed up exactly at 11 a.m.
Guess they don't know daylight saving time
Great show, they come real close on their downward soaring

keep in mind the road up will be closed sept 20-21 for the famous 6000ft san pedro martir hillclimb........BRAAAP

Be prepared for anything (rain gear, rain fly, jackets, thermals), and check the weather beforehand - see satellite photos for weather fronts moving
in.
