Car goes in car goes out

Hola,

I'm wondering what kind of paperwork is needed if I drive my car into Mexico (I'm the owner of the car) but somebody else who is not the owner drives the car out of Mexico with my permission? Probably going in and out through Mexicali...

Thanks!

It probably isn't a big deal if you're only going to Baja - except for your insurance - make sure the other driver is on your Mexican policy.

If you're going to drive down the mainland - that's another story. You'll have to get that temp import sticker for your car, and you pay with a credit card only (so they can charge you extra if you don't check back out of the country).

In any event, You'll probably have to have some kind of notarized document showing the other driver has your permission to drive your car. If he get stopped for any reason, he'll need to show he hasn't 'borrowed' your car...:D

With both posts.

You must have the person named on the insurance or an extra endorsement created. This will not cost you extra. But they will not be covered without it.

On the mainland, only the owner (and family) can drive without the owner present. A notarized letter will not cut it. They will take your vechicle if you are not in it.
