so it was time to take my son and Copilot Deep Sea fishing. Although they have been in Baja many times never fishing. So up early and park at CBX
lot and cross the corridor into Tijuana for our flight on Volaris.
rancho guillermo - 9-5-2019 at 04:49 PM
as we are landing in Loreto, the pilot grabs a gear and pushes the throttle and touches and goes...what the hell? Find out later a swarm of birds
decided to take off as we were landing. We arrive safe and at the Loreto airport and grab a cab. Son had to wear a black sweat shirt..don't ask me
why..??
rancho guillermo - 9-5-2019 at 04:51 PM
we get to the Oasis in about 15 minutes and are greeted by the highly trained and professional staff in the lobby.
rancho guillermo - 9-5-2019 at 04:57 PM
it had rained the night before and it looked like a maybe another storm...so we rushed to the liquor store and bought booze, chips and Choco Rolles to
wait out and survive the storm..got inside and watched the Sea from our room. I was telling my son how the Oasis had been built in 1962 and was one
of the original hotels in Loreto. If the walls could talk.
rancho guillermo - 9-5-2019 at 04:58 PM
view from our room.
rancho guillermo - 9-5-2019 at 05:00 PM
I am going to resize some photos and will continue later...
Skipjack Joe - 9-5-2019 at 05:04 PM
You can't just leave us hanging like that.
JZ - 9-5-2019 at 05:29 PM
Awww, very cool. I have some of the exact same pics from 3-4 years ago. CBX, outside the airport, and with the lassies.
You are doing good dad. I always take note of dads traveling with their teen kids on the flight from LAX to Loreto.
If you need any suggestions for kid stuff to do, particularly in Baja Sur, hit me up.

weather clears enough to hit the pool...wife and son get in the water...
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:21 AM
I explain how I need to go to the Visitors Center to check in..
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:23 AM
my son has his fingers crossed for fishing tomorrow...we have talked to the Panguero and there is a chance the weather may delay our fishing for a
day..we will check back with him later.
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:25 AM
we speak with Ana, the owner of The Oasis, and she tells us about the Clam bake and BBQ for dinner..sounds good. Almost like the Serenidad
tradition..
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:27 AM
has we are waiting, I have to show the team more traditions...so we hit the bar of course..and wait for dinner..
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:28 AM
the fishing is on for morning...this is what we came here for..
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:33 AM
what to take the time here to thank Bill Erhart and other Nomads for the suggestions for Francisco Davis on the "Pajaro". Good Man and was excited to
know it was my son's first time. We bought Licenses, wrist bands and burritos right there at the Marina and head out with Francisco to Monkey Face
Rock on Coronado island.
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:34 AM
before you know it, son's first Salt Water Fish..
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:39 AM
Francisco is the man..and the fishing is on..
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:41 AM
we caught Dorado, Pargo, Yellow Tail, Bass, Roosters, Needle Fish and had a great time..
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:44 AM
Then we noticed a Dark Cloud coming over the Sierra...I know the storms come quickly as I have been caught in them before, Francisco says we better
go..we had enough fish so we turned towards the Marina and hit the throttle. He radioed other boats to let them know it was time to go...the race was
on. We all got wet from the swells but what a great experience for my family...
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:45 AM
my son wanted to hang the fish and take a photo "like the old days"
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:47 AM
makes me feel good and hopefully my son can continue the fishing in Baja like so many others have before him..
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:49 AM
we give some fish to Francisco, Oasis freezes some for us to take home...and we take a few fillets to the kitchen and the staff cooks them up for
dinner.
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:52 AM
Next day we have breakfast just down the street from the hotel..
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:54 AM
after breakfast we walk around town see some beautiful buildings, and just really enjoy the downtown.
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 07:58 AM
we spend some money and then go to the Mission and see the decorations for the "Nuestra Senora de Loreto" celebration. Listened to some singing and
appreciate the tradition and small town feel.

what a great trip report....gracias
Looks like a classic Baja trip and I bet your son is hooked now!
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 08:16 AM
we find a store that can help you party all night and recover in the morning..or anything else..
rancho guillermo - 9-6-2019 at 08:20 AM
We go back to the room and my son is tired of walking so.....I take my wife out for Happy hour at Augies..(Monday is Gringo Taco Night) and we have
fun with the town gossip and great atmosphere. Then over to Mezza Luna for a cold beer and a pizza to go for my son.
Next morning up and get ready for cab to airport. We had alot of fun, and there still is some old baja feelings and magic down there..makes me feel
good.
Thanks everyone for your help and keep the Nomad stories coming. They help plan everyone's next adventures.
