It's always the week before Easter. Crowded days are always Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Everyone leaves Sunday.

We were in Baja Sur over Semana Santa this year and it wasn't very crowded. The biggest thing I noticed was what I thought was going to a deserted beach at Timbabichi had about 15 ppl and 2 sail boats.

For years, San Carlos, Sonora on the mainland would go from 7K to about 50K. Hook reported that is drying up recently as the local businesses complained about losing business to all the portable food/beer stuff that popped up.

actually that's for the campers...

Semana Santa is actually 2 weeks
the second week is when the "business owners" arrive
April 5th April 19 2020

Business owners from where?

Semana Santa is holy week, not holy weeks?

Some US schools have Spring Break the week after Easter, maybe that's what you are thinking.

i'm thinking that there are out of town tourists both weeks

only the campers are here thurs-sunday...then leave

the campers are dieing off too...not as many
people are not into camping as much anymore
too hard...people NEED their phone and ac
the beachess are limiting bon fires...fireworks...and drinking on the beaches
and operators need to supply sanitary facilities
little by little things change

only old people seem to camp
the others day camp and get a room to sleep

Easter is April 12. Semana Santa is the week before. The week after is also a holiday week, though fewer vacationers than semana Santa which is week prior to Easter.

And yes Easter is observed same day in Spain and Mexico and USA,....

B&S is correct. Semana Santa the week before Easter sunday Semana Pascua the week after. The masses come to the beach for SS the jefes come for SP. School is out for both weeks.

In our village and most west central coast towns, they empty out and are like ghost towns as all the families go camping on the Bahias around Mulege..which are still packed.
Many businesses are closed up the holy weekend at least.
