Has anyone ever seen cardon have a Crest like the sahuaro in the picture?

No. That's a first for me. Without my glasses, it looks like a vulture drying its wings in the morning sun.

More like two dogs heads facing opposite directions...probably a natural 'scarecrow' evolution to thwart vultures from resting for that morning
dry-out.

Yes, it's called a crested saguaro cactus. Rare but not uncommon around Tucson. BTW saguaro cactus and cardon cactus are two different species.

Right on the short trail to the painted cave in Catavina there is a good example of that kind of deformation.

On the Los Martires ('Petroglyph Park') Road (east then north from El Rosario)... Cresting, but not on top...

wow David, that is a weird one.

It's not common, but I think I saw more of it on that road than anywhere else in Baja!

This crested Cardon is south of Bahia de Los Angeles.

Great find, Paulina.

Thanks Paulina. Weird how 2 different species can be so similar.
