A friend needs to check on a few things, a follow up for a piece of mind. Preferably somebody with broader expertise than ubiquitous "clinicas"
running pre-natal exams. English-speaking would've been nice, though not absolutely necessary. So, - big places like Hospital Angeles and Hospital
Excel, or are there other suggestions?

Only my opinion, but I would probably ask for a referral from a specialist who knows well the issue I was looking for. That doc will know who is best
for identifying his/her specialty. My experience with ultrasound, CT and other scans has been spotty at best - especially in the USA. It is an
interpretive skill, so an experienced technician with the latest equipment would probably help. Otherwise - yes, those two hospitals would probably
provide a decent evaluation.

You're right, a visit to a specialist wouldn't hurt. North of the border a doctor doesn't see scan results unless he is a surgeon. At least, in
Canada he doesn't. They rely on interpretive skills of a radiologist, who in turn relies on a ultrasound technician's skills. I hear that in Mexico a
doctor is present during ultrasound. We'll see.

I would doubt that, but that doesn't mean your technician is any less skilled. Presence of an MD doesn't mean they are going to do a better job.
Really the tech is just moving the probe around - it is, yes, usually an MD who will interpret the scan.
