Surf beaches from Ensenada to tip of Baja

Anonymous - 3-21-2005 at 12:08 PM

Ideas for surf beaches with camping south of Ensenada. Will be headed all the way down and would just like to stop for pictures and an overnights along the way. Have a Plymouth Voyager so no 4WD type of roads please. Places with 'some' other folks but not too many surfer 'in crowd only' types.

Thanks

You'll be extremely limited with a minivan and no clearance and/or 4wd. Most of the breaks were rough traveling even before the storms.

Thanks OK ... I'll continue going thru WannaSurf Mexico. Even tho they have lots of beaches listed there's not too many described.

Punta China

Love that website's entry for Punta China. They got the urchins, sharp rocks, and really cold water right, but coral reef? Anyway, the epic day the guy in the comments had was unusual -- it gets blown out down there more often than it works (and the longitudinal current moves very fast, so be prepared to paddle in place at the points). After the rains this week there will probably be plenty of mud, standing water and rockslides on the road in. You'll have the breaks pretty much to yourself, but the beach and palisades will be crawling with Semana Santa vacationers on ATVs. Have fun!

bajajudy - I'm leaving in a few days so registration here didn't seem to make sense. For the same reason I won't be buying anything over the internet but will look for the book on the way down. Thanks
