The referenced post was a birthday notice for the USMC.
My own remembrance on each Armistice Day is that of a Great-Grandfather (veteran of the Great War) repeatedly complaining
that the day and THOSE veterans of war had been insulted by the change to Veterans Day.

To be honest, recent articles written about the "Thank you for your service" statement and its meaning to some veterans has caused me to freeze in a
PC type trance yesterday.
Same discourse about the "thoughts and prayers" statement.
Action does speak louder than words though. 4x4abc - 11-12-2019 at 12:05 PM

Hola,
HERE IS TO ALL OF OUR BRAVE VETERANS AND SERVICE PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD !!!
my son is a retired 30 year veteran of the AIR FORCE and retired recently as an E9.
his son, my grandson is a two term currently in the NAVY as an nuclear maintenance engineer on a nuclear submarine.
his daughter, my grandaughter is in the AIR FORCE and just returned from afganistan after a six month stint.
no offense intended.
BIEN SALUD, DA RAT
"Tribute" is probably the wrong word!
AKgringo - 11-12-2019 at 02:55 PM
Remember that "The shores of Tripoli" refers to our Marines being sent to stop the Barbary pirates from extracting a "tribute" from our merchant
vessels passing through open waters!
I appreciate being recognized as one who served, but in my case, no thanks are necessary! I realize that for many who served, it is a dark time in
their past, and my heart goes out to them!

First time in all my years on Nomad that I have seen this day pass without someone paying tribute to those of us that served.
I served also, and if anyone thanks me for my service I reply that I thank them for paying the taxes that supported me and I was paid every cent I was
owed.bajarich - 11-12-2019 at 09:48 PM
I guess I was waiting to see if anyone else posted it. Thanks to all you other vets. USN '69-'73 Vietnam, Patrol Squadron VP-48
Thanks Doug!!

Someone crept into this thread and posted some really nasty crud.
You can all guess who that might have been.
And Doug once again deleted the "stuff"
As to the comments....
Yeah, I served
Raised my hand
Gave up a couple years of my youth
Did my part in protecting our freedom
I don't expect thanks, nor do I resent those who did not serve.
I just have the immense satisfaction of knowing
I DID MY PART!!!
Thanks to all the rest of my fellow vets, whether you need the accolades or not. Those of us that served, know what I mean.
