Does anyone know the recent road conditions to Gonzaga? I would like to know from both directions.
Do you believe we could get there without a problem in a minivan?
I am worried about ground clearance

Big AL - If you go to BajaNomad Home (above) then to forums, there is a section devoted to road conditions. I haven't driven the road lately, but
copied here a recent post from the Road Forum and it may help a bit.
Not my report, but is says:
We just drove the road from Hwy.1 to Mexicali two days ago. Can't tell any difference in the condition, it seems roughest between Gonzaga and
Puertecitos. We saw alot of traffic, from semi trucks to small passenger cars. I would not reccomend it in a passenger car. There was gas available at
the Gonzaga Pemex and probably at Bahia de Los Angeles Pemex next week or so. The wild flowers are in bloom and it alone is worth the trip.

I think we will hit the road south to Gonzaga on Memerial Day and stay the following week. I am trying to figure out if some good friends of our
dare make the road in to Gonzaga in their minivan. If all else fails they drive my Grand Cherokee since I got a new F250 crew cab,
I will be back down in BOLA in the middle of June. Do have plans of being there around that time?
I bought a new tin boat last year and just bought a new Johnson 30 HP for so I am set for some serious tin boat fishing. Hopefully we can hook up
down there this year.

bring plenty of stuff to drink....i reccomend Pacifico...that seems to calm the nerves a bit....Tecate works well too

Should of sold me that motor for cheap Al, then I could of told you all of the fishing spots down there and how to fish them since Ive been fishing
there and at Punta Final for 16 years and Im 22 now. 
The road is a piece of cake and you could go both ways in a mini van. They always re grade it in the washes after heavy rains. The chapala route is
90% of the time an easier route. Good Luck

Be prepared for flat tires. Those mini van tires ain't too strong on the sidewalls. Couple o' spares a good idea.

The road to Gonzaga to is drivable. On mile 26 outside of San Felipe the road becomes a nightmare of potholes. You will be doing 25 mph for the next
30 miles. After that?it?s all dirt with washboard (bumpy ripples every three inches). Your average mph will be 40ish. Deflate your tire pressure by
25% for a smoother ride; this will not damage your tires. Talking about tires?. carry a spare. And jack! Do a check and make sure that you have
everything to change a tire properly. You can ask the locals coming north from Gonzaga (as they pass you) if the gas station is opened. Do carry a
5-gallon can with you. You may be arriving on fumes! Once you get to the gas station, there are plenty of campsites, food store and a motel. You be
okay! Do not travel further south. The road at 8 or so miles becomes rough, rough, and rough! Bottom scrappers and tire bitters lay in the wait for
you! Do go over to Punta Finale (about 5 miles), it?s a good spot for fishing, Kayak and snorkeling. And few humans! There?s a camp site there?but is
crapola.
You mini van will be fine.

oh yeah, i deflate my tires 50% to about 20 PSI. bring two spares if you can. the guys at rancho grande can repair minor flats. Pick up your trash
and have fun. One hint, LIVE BAIT, Bottom.

Just got back. With the exception of the potholes south of SF the road was in pretty good shape.

al i'll be there at the end of june, lets put that boat to work!! were allso planning on fishing the yellow tail contest in may.
