My neighbor took these beautiful photos of a family of boregos (desert bighorn sheep). The boregos were on the mountain behind our homes in Coyote
Bay. Our neighbors, Les & Patsy, had spotted them from the panoramic view offered by their mountainside home..then the next day Les had climbed up
the mountain (no small endeavor) with his camera and got close enough to take these pics without spooking the herd. There are 13 sheep, including
quite a few young, some ewes, immature rams, and one big ram who was almost a full-curl.
We often see these sheep making their way back and forth from our mountain range to the southern Gigantes..usually at this time of year. What a
great sight they are...and definetely Baja Nomads!

Yes, great shots! I've heard that it is usually very difficult to get close to them.

now tell us the truth...Les & Patsy were riding the tram up at the San Diego Park's Animal Park... That's the only place most of us can get this close and personal with these beautiful mountain sheep!

Actually, Les is a very good hunter/stalker and if anyone can get close to a desert sheep, he can. Regular lens with regular zoom, I expect, with a
slow, cautious approach. Hell, I could do the same thing..only you would have a hard time getting my big dead body off the mountain.

Pompano, Wonderful Pics. We live close to Borrego and in many trips over 35 years we have seen them twice only. Its rare to be able to capture them in
a pic. or see them. Thanks for posting. Cynda
Majestic, aren't they?
