Anyone have an opinion about this hotel in Loreto? I am going to Loreto April 10-18 with my two little kids. We are on a budget. We are flying. Advice?

Stayed there last week...a winner

Gail's place there is always SPOTLESS. and everything is now remodeled. About 430 pesos as I recall. She checks mail often- hotelquintasanfrancisco@prodigy.net.mx
For another 4-5 bucks the Iguana Inn is great too

Hey Marla,

Here is Marla (on the left) at Viva Baja #2:

Does she work

Hook - 3-24-2005 at 04:03 PM

for the OC Register?

David K - 3-24-2005 at 04:17 PM

Yes, I thought you knew.. sorry. She covers the Saddleback College for them as far as I know.

Hey Hook. Yes that was me! Looking totally stressed as my deadline ticked away and the board still would not take a vote! They finally voted about literally 2 minutes before my drop dead deadline in fact I had already gone upstairs to use a modem to file my story. There was another Nomad there, BurritoMama was sitting near me.

Hi Marla,

Keri - 3-24-2005 at 07:15 PM

Mike and I just spent a week with Gail. Great lady. We love it there because it is right on the malecon across from the marina and you can walk to town and to cafe ole's. Very clean, no TV's but we are people watchers so that doesn't bother us. We go to get away from that. We love to watch the hustle and bustle at the marina ( which isn't much , but just right for us. We don't want to be over stimulated you know) ) Go there you will love it. Say Hi from us,k:spingrin:;):bounce::tumble:

Quite a reversal, huh?

An interesting issue, to say the least.

It appears the Register has more than one education writer as I believe someone beside yourself occasionally wirites on issues related to us.

And, boy, have we had some issues lately.....

marla - 3-25-2005 at 01:25 PM

Thanks Keri! And Hook, yeah, that was funny. There are community writers who also cover happenings at Saddleback. I cover all the colleges and universities in OC and statewide higher education issues. What do you do?

I produce and direct videos for the college

Hook - 3-25-2005 at 06:48 PM

and program the college's cable channel.

Hope to retire somewhere in Latin America in 3 years. OC will be too expensive for a retiree, no matter how expensive Arnold thinks our pension is.

What about Canebrake? It seems to considered heaven on earth to those who live there!

Did you get my U2U, about Marvin's question?

About Canebrake

Hook - 3-25-2005 at 09:55 PM

It is a pretty tight community...which is good. But it seems like property sales are rare. Great area. But I have soured on California in general. Too many nitpicking rules.

Beside, you should know me, Dave...Canebrake is too far away from fishable salt water.

Tell Marv I'm PJ of PJ and Shelly.

David K - 3-25-2005 at 10:24 PM

No pup fish to catch in the streams out there? LOL

I'll tell Marv... Thanks Hook!
