Orthopedist recommendation in La paz?

defrag4 - 12-24-2019 at 01:54 PM

hi friends, My wife has been having some severe back/neck pain for the past few weeks, she believes she either has a P-nched nerve or disk problem, likely needs an MRI

We just got back home here in Loreto, doesnt seem to be much in the way of back doctors in town so planning a trip to La Paz

A friend recommended that we just go to the Fidepaz hospital and speak to a general practitioner who can guide us through the system to the proper docs. From my research this looks to be a pretty good hospital and has an MRI machine inhouse

Any ideas if we are on the right track? Does anyone know of a doctor in La Paz they can recommend?

We would be paying out of pocket, speak good spanish but always nice to deal with complicated medical terms in our native language. Thanks!

I would hop in a plane and go to Guadalajara
better doctors, better imaging

Fidepaz is the last hospital you would want to use
local doctors role their eyes when you mention Hospital Fidepaz

to be clear, the new hospital (Medica Fidepaz) across from the original Hospital Fidepaz (Central de Especialidades Medicas) seems to be OK

We have visited Fidepaz several times over the past 4-5 years for minor issues with good results. Friends have been satisfied with their care of more serious conditions there including emergency heart bypass, broken back, cancer. Dr. Buenaventura Diaz is a doctor of internal medicine and can get you to the specialist you need. Our last visit with him was 800p or less. His English is quite good, btw.

Fidepaz has many many doctors.
Some are quite good
I as well have visited the place many times for minor issues with good results
plus they are quick - almost always there is a doctor available right away.
However, I hear from other doctors that patients often go home with serious infections
I got one that took more than a year to treat - for the price of a new car

The last few years the Hospital H+ or H plus has been the place to go . New facility and English speaking doctors. Check it out.

Contact Dr. Alejandro Aguirre Chavez in La Paz, in the phone directory. He’s a PM&R specialist and can direct you to a good ortho.
