Camping gear for rent?

Hello everyone, this is my first post in the forum. I'm french so I apologize in advance for my poor english :)
I'm travelling with my girlfriend next month for 3 weeks and we are looking for a store or someone to rent/buy some camping gear (tent, bags, etc) but I haven't found a single store googling. We're visiting "only" baja california sur and starting from San José Cabo, so ideally we would like to buy/rent there.

Do you know someone or some store for camping gear? Thanks in advance. Have a great day

I am sorry that I can't help you out with either equipment, or information about where to find some, but keep checking back here to see if someone else can.

I would also like to help you out with your "poor English", but I am having difficulty finding any errors. Surely someone on this forum will take a shot at it though!

Will you be renting a car, bicycling, or backpacking here in Baja Sur?

I dont know of anyone that rents camping gear in cabo. The kayak tour providers in la paz and loreto probably have some camping gear they would rent.
i dont know of any store in baja sur that sells light weight backpacking gear, if looking for light weight backpacking gear to buy, you are probably better off bringing that in your luggage...

Go to Walmart in San Jose del Cabo. They have inexpensive camping gear (bags,tents,coolers ect.) that would be fine for what you want to do.

for cheapo stuff for car camping, walmart will do.
for light weight gear for backpacking, walmart is not a good place.

This is very good advice. It will be pretty inexpensive and do just fine.

If you want good, light-weight hiking stuff, bring it with you.

Walmart and Soriana and ACE hardware have everything you need, tents, inflatable mattress, pump, sheets, pillows, sleeping bags, coolers, stove, pots and pans, silverware, plates, etc. You can pretty much get everything including food at Walmart. Both San Jose Del Cabo and La Paz have these outlets. New is by far better than used since these things do fail at some point and don't always last more than a year. It's very important that zippers work and so forth. See you at the beach.

One bag of gear checked on a flight will be cheaper than buying it all new. New is more wasteful, and then when you leave do you leave it all behind?

Who accepts donations of unwashed and heavily used ca.ping gear? As a previous poster mentioned, Wally world sells gear that may not survive 2 seasons due to low quality.

Not trying to be antagonistic, actually am curious if I can leave some things I dont need so I can bring home more gifts !

Walmart isn't a "gear store." It's a huge retailer that has everything. It has a camping section.

They specialize in being very affordable. Not where you would shop for stuff that will last your for years. But that's not what you are after. It will be decent.

Nothing Goat said is inaccurate. Many Walmart employees get SNAP and Medicaid, as wages are so low. Corporate welfare at its finest.

For two people's baggage allowance, you can bring a lot of your own gear. Even if you bring one extra large or heavy baggage item (that will fold up - not a hard case suitcase) that you'll have to pay extra for, you can bring almost everything. At least bring a tent and possibly some kind of sleeping pad - if you can find some inflatable canvas surf riders, that's what I bring - works for snorkeling, sleeping pad. I also found a fold up, lightweight chair on eBay for $17 which was one of my most valued items at camp. I get really tired of sitting on rock with no backrest.

Hello again guys. Thanks for all the information you gave me last month. I checked Walmart and soriana store online but I wasn't really convinced by the quality/price so I've finally used Amazon.mx. Bought everything I needed and I'll collect in a pickup point next Tuesday when we arrive.
I don't really like giving my money to Bezos but I've managed to get some really good gear for almost half the price of Walmart.
So if you go someday to Baja and you don't like what you see in physical stores be aware that Amazon is everywhere.

Hmmm...what I see at our local walmart is individuals who are supplementing their social security checks. Lots of elderly working the registers. Most seem pretty grateful to be working. I've always wanted to ask them how the additional income acts against their SS income tax rating. Our socialist comrades (mini goats) at the helm here in Cali love all that extra wealth to redistribute with high 'income' taxes.

Thank you that's very kind but unfortunately I'll be leaving Baja end March.
If there's anyone interested in buying camping gear for cheap I'll be around Los Cabos the 30 and 31 March.

Mexicans in general are not into camping so I would be concerned about renting equipment which will probably be subpar. Better to buy it and sell it after the trip. I camp a lot in Baja & rarely see Mexicans camping & if I do they are always a lot of people staying in a very small tent.
