San Felipe accommodations and Hgwy 5

I always drive Hgwy 1 SB because, for me, Baja starts with a marg at Jardines. Followed by breakfast at Mama's.

I love Ensenada and always stop for breakfast and shopping.

This route is not stressful for me but can understand for some folks, it's very stressful. I see it as fun, and I'm enjoying MX.

Thinking of driving 5 and know what to expect. In San Felipe, La Vaquita looks good for dinner.

Accommodations look average online. Anyone have a great place they like to stay in town, or great place for dinner?

La Vaquita is good, we ate there a week or two ago. Good bar and good food. There are two mariscos places next to each other at the south end of the Malecon, cant remember the names but one is yellow and one is blue, open air seating and they are connected, they are pretty good. Haven't had a bad taco stand and if you like cabeza, there is a good place on the right as you come into town 1 block before the round about.

Hotels, Kiki's is good and right on the water. They're pretty much all adequate but no 4 or 5 star anywhere.

Let me know when you come thru and we can have a beer or three.

admittedly not a big foodie but the Taco Factory on the malecon always serves us well!

To me, one doesn't get much accomodation wise for your $.
You can pay $55 ish for the mentioned Kikis, probably my
choice, George's in the $80 range, Cortez Motel in the $80, the older El Capitain maybe $45

Good enough. Thanks for the leads.

Bajazly: continued success on your retirement and move to San Felipe. Quite the accomplishment.

San Dollar is outside of town, but probably better than all the ones listed here. Right on the ocean.

My wife and I have stayed at the Don Jesus motel. There are two motels a block apart we like the North one. It is clean, quiet and secure.
There is a wonderful outdoor restaurant a half block north of the motel that is awesome. The name is Asadero Riviera on Calzada Chetumal street. Order the Burro. One is enough for two people. You will not be sorry

El Capitan, small rooms, walk to everything. Restaurant and Barefoot Bar at El Cortez nearby, enjoy the ambiance beach front with great food, known for inexpensive breakfast and lunch, and a great bar with live entertainment and a 9-11 theme if you carefully examine the wall art, instead of the great views of the sea --
