Boat TIP - again

ncampion - 3-13-2020 at 09:57 AM

Is it possible to renew the TIP for a boat? Situation is that I have a TIP for my boat and the ten years expires in a little over one year and I don't want to take it back to the US yet. Can I somehow renew the TIP without actually exiting Mexico or do I have to tow an 8,000lb boat 2000 miles RT just to get a new one. Anyone have any actual experience with this?

I did it at the office in Guaymas when my boat was in San Carlos. Was the 2nd TIP.

Marina's will also do the paperwork for you for a fee.

Might be able to do it in P-nchelingue (La Paz).

Yes, La Paz is where you want to look.

You can get ONE, 10-year extension, is what I'm told.

After that, it's remove it from the country or import it.

That's the word around here.

Seems reasonable on Mexico's part.

They will let you "temporarily" import the boat for up to twenty years.

After twenty years, you will finally have to make a decision. Is it truly "temporary" or is it permanent.

Thanks for the info. I originally got it in La Paz. Guess I'll start investigating how to do it. Another 10 years will more than meet my needs.
