China sends 10 tons of medical supplies to Mexico

Skipjack Joe - 4-9-2020 at 02:37 PM

China, yes China, that bad country that we now like to bash in the US (totalitarian dictatorship ah!), has sent 10 tons of med supplies to Mexico and that's the first of 20 plane loads. Even the locals in my small pueblo of Asuncion know about it and are grateful as hell.

Yea, it didn't go over to well when they restricted any medical device exporting by manufacturers in China at the start of the pandemic.

PR stunt, go with eyes wide open!

Wrong!!!

These supplies and needed and they are being provided. You can put any spin you want on it but Mexicans prefer to accept them at face value. As did the Italians.

A life saved is a life saved. You can pontificate from your armchair whether it was done up to your standards.

It's THEIR virus, so it's GOOD that they are providing help! You know it is a huge PR stunt... just the same. America has always been the leader in helping other countries during disasters... no matter if natural or the fault of other countries.

Some people say, "us OR them".

Some say, "us AND them".

This tiny planet is getting smaller and smaller, and so are some of the minds aboard.

This video was posted on another thread. Very interesting, indeed. Almost 56 minutes, but informative. A little boring in the beginning but lays out the groundwork. CCP is not our friend. Note I say CCP; not the people of China.

And Charles Manson once helped an old lady across the street. Use your head, please.

Bat-Bashing those Chinese

MrBillM - 4-9-2020 at 04:33 PM

While agreeing that eating Bats and other odd wild critters may seem a bit revolting, it's not uncommon within cultures the world over, including the Aboriginal peoples in Australia.

From Wikipedia:

" ........ Bats have been hunted by Aboriginal Australians for thousands of years, extending into modern times. Popular game species are the black flying fox and the little red flying fox. In 1997, it was estimated that the Aboriginal people of the Top End consumed 180,000 each year ....... "

The so-called "Wet Markets" (which obviously are potential infectious nightmares) have also existed peddling wild animal meat for centuries and more.

While not excusing the Chi-Commies for minimizing the problem and deflecting blame, it's doubtful (given his initial "it's a Hoax" reactions) that D.T. would have responded better.

China is charging Mexico for the aid??
Despicable.

"Provided" could be taken several ways. This is no donation.

According to Dr. Lopez-Gatell in the video I posted today (minute 34:00), that equipment is being purchased by Mexico, who sent specialists to China a couple of weeks ago to manage the purchase and check over the equipment to make sure that it was of acceptable quality.

I don't know whether they were bought or given. I don't even know what the price was. But clearly Mexico was grateful and didn't feel it was taken advantage of, which is what you're implying.

"Foreign Affairs Minister Marcelo Ebrard took to Twitter to offer his thanks to those involved in the airlift. “The Aeroméxico flight from Shanghai with medical equipment to deal with the Covid-19 has arrived,” he tweeted. “Thanks to Aeroméxico, the Chinese authorities and the Insabi team that dealt with the operation. We are moving forward.”

Also this:

"Between March 1 and April 4, China has exported US $1.4 billion worth of medical supplies to countries around the world, including 3.9 billion masks, 2.4 million infrared thermometers, 16,000 ventilators and 2.8 million coronavirus test kits."

Yes, the US has historically been the one in this position. But times have changed. It's a change we have been ignoring but it has been going on for quite a while. Now it stares us in the face and by the response it's clear we're not happy about it.

Regarding China and Russia being the new leaders:

Not so fast. China - yes. Russia - no. The projection for 2050 is that today's emerging markets will be tomorrows superpowers. That means China -1, India -2, USA -3, and Russia around 10 I think. I don't know if you can make such a correlation but some experts seem to think so.

Political affiliations aside, this world is the smallest it's ever been. Great, every bright and intelligent person should embrace this. That said, its every travelers responsibility to to safegard others. See things, respond honestly to intelligent like minded people ( without offending soverienty ) China blew it, they need to know, that said, it's important not to embarras them. It's a culture that dispieses that perspective, history. Unfortunatly all the nah sayers have to recognize that this whole debacle has been managed and appropriated correctly. Although its not over, I like the view that is being promoted. People are invested in this country, jobs, retirement, children, homes, etc., I detest haters for humanity, regardless of political affiliation

Not my standards...it's well documented they deceived the entire world and caused harm on a scale much greater than what they do now can cover.

You would tell the unjustly imprisoned (forced labor) to be grateful for the grill (something like food) they get fed by the same Chinese. Or maybe the actual number of dead of their own people (as reported by the doctors and reporters who have now dissapeared) to be happy for their nice body bags.

Skipjack Joe - 4-10-2020 at 10:27 AM

China's vaccine is entering phase 2. They say it possibly may be ready as soon as 6 months.

bajatrailrider - 4-11-2020 at 08:43 AM

Can't believe anything form China . Since they can't even make a two dollar tire gauge. Can you trust there med supplies.

David,
Really ???????

You just don't get it

David K - 4-11-2020 at 09:39 AM

Ged, who doesn't get it?

I was replying to this from 'lencho' (above), asking him a question about what HE said:

"Right.

Aren't we the country who is refusing to export PPE to our immediate neighbors right now as the storm is about to break upon them?

I suspect Mexico is buying them from China because we won't source them."

Get it now?

motoged - 4-11-2020 at 09:52 AM

Pathetic deflection.

Your comments generally indicate your stunted views. Covid is not China's virus.....it is the world's.

Slagging China for selling needed articles without acknowledging Drump's actions of refusing such shipments to other country's orders is a pretty lop-sided view.

You are like your prez,,,, refuses to accept responsibility and plays the victim.....

You load 16 tons, and what do you get?

AKgringo - 4-11-2020 at 10:39 AM

Like the old Tennessee Ernie Ford song, Canada loaded up sixteen tons of medical equipment and shipped it to China in February.

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-ottawa-face...

I am not here as a critic, but I wonder if China replaced the donated PPE, or is selling it back to Canada now?

It's possible. But unlikely. The most obvious, straightforward answer is that Canada sent it to China in a time of need (the rest of the world was virus free in February) and China is now doing similar to Mexico in it's time of need. They used the Canadian supply during the emergency, ramped up their supplies as the illness spread, and have a surplus now that things are under control.

The most obvious explanation is usually the right one. I don't know why so many people have trouble with that.

AKgringo - 4-11-2020 at 11:39 AM

I apparently did not phrase my question very well, so I will make it more direct. Canada generously donated 16 tons of protective equipment to China when they had a crisis (good on Canada!).

China sold ten tons to Mexico (glad hey could do it!).

The question; Did China replace the donated supplies, from Canada, or are they selling the products there now? Or is it a combination of both? (most likely answer?)

Bingo! You get it... I don't understand why others don't. Perhaps it is more important for them to twist my questions for political reasons? Whatever. Can't we just chat ideas without the dark side trolling?
I hope you all stay well. Now, back to movies with my great wife.

Who's on first? What's there to get?

donate = generous
sell = selfish

Yeah, I got it. Canada = good. China = bad.

It's pretty simple and straightforward. You've made your point and I made my point elsewhere about the new Cold War. I'm tired of repeating it. It's falling on deaf ears. Even lencho, who made the initial statement, doesn't come to your conclusion. Even he doesn't 'get it'. Enjoy your cartoons.

David K - 4-11-2020 at 04:39 PM

Cartoons? No, wrong again.
The Prestige and now Pushing Tin... Yes, today on "stay at home day xx", we are on movies starting with the letter P.
Enjoy your evening!
