Hi everyone,
In May I'll begin a solo sea kayak circumnavigation of the Sea of Cortez, with a focus on elucidating the stories and perspectives of the artisanal
fishermen and scientists who work and live with the Sea. Before and during the expedition I will be posting updates in a special forum at Baja & Gulf
of California Conservation - http://www.bajacaliforniaconservation.org
Please feel free to visit the forum and ask questions or offer insights related to the subject of this venture and I'll do my best to respond them.
Even though my web site URL says '.org' I am really just an individual (not a non-profit) with a passionate interest in the conservation issues and
ethics as they relate to this region. I've been lucky enough to receive support from talented photographers and an IT friend, all of whom have made
the web site possible.
Anyway, come visit the site and thanks for your support and participation!

I didnt see any route layout at your Website (and eta's). Be great here if folks can somewhat expext you at certain points. Oh....may the Luck Of The
Irish be with you. And me!
sounds like big fun Greg!

you should consider a sat phone though just in case. there are a few hairy areas - read Marv and Althea Hatchen's book Baja by Land Sea and Air to get
a feeling on what happened to them on their catamaran setups. can be dicey.
but do post your itinery - maybe i can buzz in at one of your landings for deliveries or just to check in. most on the west side of Cortez. Like when
i met Carlos on his panga jaunt.

That's Marv and Aletha 'Patchen'... here's their first book...
Itinerary

Thanks for the comments and support! I will post an itinerary soon, though it will be fairly general since I'm not doing the trip just to put miles
behind me. I hope to linger in places where there are interesting people and things about. I also hope to run into plenty of Nomad's and have a
margarita or two!

gringorio, I don't consider myself a "Nomad" even though the small number of my posts puts me in that category, but I do make a mean
margarita.
We'll probably be ensconced at our house at Punta Bufeo in May, and I would enjoy having you pass judgment on my skills with the fruit of the
agave plant and limes. Feel free to hove-to in the lee of Punta Bufeo if you have the time and inclination.

Well...also include a picture of your rig...so we all know thats it's you....

JESSE - 3-30-2005 at 03:51 PM

gringorio - 3-31-2005 at 07:54 AM
Hey everyone,
Capt. Mike, I'm going to have to see this infamous trailer of yours! Hopefully we can connect while I'm down there.
Hey Jesse, a circumnavigation of the Peninsula would be awesome! Though landing on those beaches on the Pacific side can be a bit challenging! U2U or
email me about your trip!
Like Natalie Ann mentioned, details of my trip, including photos and itinerary are and will be posted on my web site: http://www.BajaCaliforniaConservation.org .
nos vemos,

Sat. Phone
gringorio - 4-6-2005 at 08:58 PM
Hey Capt. Mike
I'm looking into a sat. phone for emergencies and posting updates on the web site. Good idea!
The photo is the bow of the kayak with the website lettering for those in Baja who may want to know if it is me or not.
