The move came amid a coronavirus spike in neighboring Arizona — prompting Sonoyta Mayor José Ramos Arzate to issue a statement Saturday “inviting
US tourists not to visit Mexico.”
People from the US should only be allowed in “for essential activities, and for that reason, the checkpoint and inspection point a few meters from
the Sonoyta-Lukeville AZ crossing will continue operating,” Ramos Arzate wrote.

It puzzles me why the mayor has to issue a statement "not to invite tourists" when there is already an international agreement to this effect.

Amazing country...
Many gringos ignoring the order and going to mexico for tourism, lounging at their vacation homes, etc.
Mexico border guards just waving nonessential travelers thru the border.
So communities may need to be enforcers, eh?David K - 7-6-2020 at 04:48 PM
