Does anyone know about the Ernesto Coppel hotel in Todos Santos?

Can anyone in Totos Santos or anyone who has been inTodos Santos on the ground in the last 4 months update me on what is happening with this massive property? It occupies the former sugar mill ruin South of the Hotel California and stretches across the oasis to La Cachora at Esquina.

I'm going home in 2 1/2 weeks, I will post photos. As I understand it he has 3 others planned.

I was there today and truthfully it is a disgrace. Millions spent to make an old ruin look old. There was a good deal of fake brick facade and many expensive palm trees in a Disney worthy fakie effort.

Best of luck to Ernesto and his new property. :?:

Yes that's Coppel's Nordstrom style Retail for tourists....but put your boots on the ground down in the Arroyo below in the Rio Oasis?? Todos Santos infrastructure is falling apart as is but MAS mega development will cause overload. What say you guys?!

True story. Just before COVID hit it was a main water line break that caused the main water pump that supplies half the town to fail, the water pump had to go to La Paz to be rebuilt and the water was out for 4 days. I was downtown yesterday and saw the new boutique hotel Coppell is building. It is much more in scale with the town but one wonders how many more hundreds or thousands the village can take with its 1950s infrastructure.

Photos are something of an enigma for me, they seem to be too big to load directly. I will try to put them up via photo bucket or something similar.

The hotel structure is beautiful and done in an 1860s style, the palm trees (taken from the many lands acquired adjacent to the hotel) are specimens and in all the people the hotel will be a blessing but without significant upgrades to our infrastructure we will find ourselves in deep chit literally.

General consensus among locals is this new Bldg is not a hotel but a retail store...behind the old Mill location is the large property in the old farming fields/arroyo leading out to La Poza/La Cachora and el Mar. Water and power infrastructure is a monthly problem. Search...Todos Santos Newsfeed.

I confirmed the old mill is indeed an upscale shopping plaza. The future plan includes a hotel and spa. It’s a massive property that goes all the way out to La Cachora by Esquina. I see he has a smaller project in the center of town as well. I tried photo bucket but they are charging to host photos.

I know nothing about the Todos Santos area, but I happened to blunder by the place yesterday. I was wondering what the story was, and what was going on there.

I'll have to check it out someday soon when I don't have my dog with me (or sitting in a hot car).
