Thank you for the information on Hwy 5 and Coco's corner. Now I have another question. How is the road from BOLA to Bahia San Francisco and beyond
to connect with Hwy 1 down south. We tried the road a few years ago but got tired of the rocks and ruts and turned around. Is it better now? How
about the road from Hwy 1 down the hill to Aqua Verde? We drive a Ford van with our kayaks on top.

Do you mean San Francisquito? I did both (SF and AV) last nov. and the roads were fine. Wash board from BOLA to SF but no big deal just air down.
Going out to H1 was fine. Shouldn´t be a problem in a van.

I air down and drive that road fast in my 22 year old F150
It dances right over that washboard and that road is a fun road to drive

Great road... per reports it was improved since my two times over it in 2017. It is even better from Punta San Francisquito to Hwy. 1, either through
El Arco or the shortcut via Guillermo Prieto. Note, there is a short patch of deep sand followed by a slow hill climb just after turning onto the
short cut road.
Visit Mission Santa Gertrudis as you are close if using the short cut road.

The section from BoLA to the Bahia Animas turn-off is generally rocky and no fun on truck or moto...south of there is sandier and more fun.David K - 10-13-2020 at 05:12 PM

I drove it headed north at the end of February, and it was in pretty fair condition. I was driving an Isuzu Trooper and did not air down.
My Trooper has coil rear, and torsion bar front suspension, and does a pretty good job on rough roads. If your van has a heavy duty suspension, it
would make sense to air down since it is about a hundred miles of dirt and rock.

Here are a bunch of way points and tracks for BoLA and San Francisquito. You can load them into Google Earth or GPS phone apps like Gaia or Back
Country Navigator. BCN is my favorite.
The road from San Francisquito to MX 1 is very fast. If it's graded, there are stretches you can drive 50+ mph.

On the center map that DavidK posted, look for Piedra Blanca. It is a working ranch that also has a few tourist accommodations.
They produce cheese, and machaca (dried beef) and have a restaurant that can serve some of it up for you. If they have no guests staying there, you
may have to go to the office and let them know you are hungry, and they will open up.

JZ, have you been in there recently? I was in there at the end of February, and unless his van is 4x4, it would be a marginal trail. In addition to
a few soft spots, some of the vegetation is crowding the road, which may or may not be a problem for the kayaks on top.
