New topic on old subject...What happened to photobucket? I quit using it a long time ago but tried to access it this morning. Nope! I abandoned a lot of images there and wanted to make one more try to move them....

Just checked, and my Photobucket albums are all there...
That said, many of us have switched to www.postimages.org a free site with one easy step to set the upload size to 800 or 640 pixels wide, to fit on Nomad and other forums.
Photobucket now costs me $5/ month to host my images without that watermark. Bummer that it is no longer free and I will eventually drop them but with so many maps and Baja photos on Nomad that are hosted on Photobucket, it may be awhile to get them over on Postimages.org.

Sure enough - paying for photobucket allows normal picture use.
Non payers have to find the hack to retrieve the photos.

Probably the easiest solution is pay the 5 bucks save all your photos to your computer then dump them.
Sad deal due to the huge effort for all the images. To much work for me.

My new method is save the darn images on my computer/cloud, then when postimages starts requiring fees I wont care. Even then the cloud has limits before payment is required. Optionally get a monster size external hard drive.

Not sure I understand why anyone would 'destroy' (delete) their photos after putting them on Photobucket or any other hosting site?
My PC (and a backup hard drive) store all my photos and maps... I also used Photobucket (and now Postimages) to share my images on Nomad (and Tacoma World, etc.)... That is because most forums don't have automatic resizing or storage space to show photos, like Facebook does. So, we put duplicates of our photos onto a photo hosting site... but we DON'T destroy the originals on our PC! So sad if anyone trusted a free (or pay) online service with their treasures!

I already have a replacement for photobucket. Thank you. I want to retrieve the pics held for ransom. I will try a couple of methods and post how I make out...Thanks all

When you retrieve from photobucket that does not mean they are necessarily deleted, but once retrieved they become available to save at another place, like the pc.

I save originals at full size and a reduced version on my PC and do not save on a hosting site. I use postimage to get the reduced version. If they go away I will go back to Paint on my PC

Do not change the upload quality of your photos. Change the display for Nomads with a simple =800x.

Other forums will display the high quality images just fine.

Stop being so stubborn and leading ppl down the wrong path.

You don't need to physically reduce the size of your photos to have them post perfectly on Nomads.

This is the code "img=800x" to do it.

It is an upload size adjustment, does the same as manually adding =800x. The quality is not reduced, only the area of the screen filled is. Just look at my maps and photos... No low quality from the 800 pixel uploading.

It does. Other forums allow full res. Having Portimage adjust it screws it up for other places you want to use the images. =800x only needs to be done on this forum.

Stop giving ppl bad advice. Its like telling ppl to air up when they hit the dirt because you only drove down one dirt road and having extra air on it made you think it was a smoother ride.
