Dakar 2021 announced

thebajarunner - 11-26-2020 at 11:33 AM

It will be totally in Saudi Arabia
Starts January 2
American Ricky Brabec, the defending bike champ, is the only American listed in the preliminary article.
Wondering if our perennial Baja/NASCAR friend Robby Gordon is going to dump another load of bucks into another futile desert effort???

Ricky is really cool!

Here is a photo I took of him at Mulegé last year:

He is interviewed in this episode of Trail of Missions Recon 2019 (starts around Minute 1:45 to 3:50):

I hope Roby stays busy getting the new UTV'S done that he's making. I'm holding out for the new enclosed cab with heat and A/C model...With age come a nice comfortable climate controlled cage!

looks like the AOS is really focused on safety this year slowing the race down by making navigation more difficult and putting the riders in air bags, word is by 2026 they hope to have the cars run on hydrogen?
anyway good luck to the American teams....go get em Shorty!

these are specifically designed for rally raid, if they keep just one rider out of the chair they'll be a success:yes:

I was unaware of this type of pro.....years ago there was something like that be tried for street riders, but it never gained much traction. Seems like the technology has improved.

Moto GP ... love to watch road racing but don't see it very often as my channels don't carry it very often.

Love to watch a guy come into a corner with his rear wheel 6 " off the pavement....and his front wheel drifting.... :wow::O

I may have done that a few times.....but never on purpose

It would be interesting to see causes of death for Dakar ....cars, trucks, and motos....and which class has particular injury profiles. I would think guys in cages likely less likely to die than moto guys.

Heart attacks, head injury, spinal, or what....?
