a part of me wishes it would not happen at all,sometimes i think convenience is the downfall of mankind(of course i'm probably the guy youll see

Word has it that the tanks have already been filled in anticipation of opening day. But, by the time it really opens that fuel may be tainted goop!

Yep, Salsa's got the vibe goin' on this one.
You know, I remember waiting in line down at the "Old" Gasolinera...Six pack down low between the seats in the shade...keeping somewhat cool, or at
least below body temperature....waiting in the line, and certainly catching up on all the "latest" news....those were fun days.
And you could pretty much take it to the bank that there would be NO gas between X-Mas & New Years...
At least now, w/ no official Pemex station, there is gasoline available EVERY day, which is nothing short of a miracle. So I am not sweating it
either way. If the new station opens...cool....if not....cool as well.

You are right on Mia... Private enterprise works everywhere it is tried. For less than a buck a gallon, these guys drive 200 miles round trip to bring
gasoline to Bahia. I hope they don't destroy their equipment after Pemex opens... because as soon as it runs out or goes out of business, the
independant dealers will be back in business!

at the old Pemex station. One time I was waiting and the Pemex truck pulled up WITH A COMPLETE RETAIL PUMP MOUNTED ON THE BACK OF THE TRUCK. It had
the pesos readout and everything.
I will not be sad to see the independents become less of a presence. It is a pain in the butt to try and fill a diesel boat, one five gallon container
at a time.
I have stil not gotten any clear answer from Sergio Lopez that there will be diesel in the new Pemex. My fingers are crossed.

...I asked him and Victoria several weeks ago, if diesel was going to be available at the station and they both said yes...
BUT, I guess we'll just have to wait and see for sure when (if?) it opens! Supposedly it's going to be "any day now"; and that they have to wait for
Pemex to sign off on everything.
hmmm, hope that goes ok.
But I hear what you are saying trying to fill a boat 5 gal. at a time. That wait time might require a 12 pack instead of a six pack!
Back of the truck pumps

Hook, remember during the week of the 1991 eclipse when they brought gas in by the truck, jacked the full trailer up on blocks alongside the TP and
pumped directly out of the trucks?
All up and down the peninsula were these trailers, and trucks, guys sitting under an umbrella waiting for their next customer.

Think it was the late 80s. Might have been the early days of MagnaSin and Extra. I think Nova was history.
They ran electricity from a generator to the pump and began dispensing it directly from the pump as it sat on the fuel delivery truck.
I sure hope Sergio treats his diesel occasionally. That fuel may sit in there for a while.

My math tells me that the 19/22 ratio would still be a savings over the independents. So, I guess I will pay it, especially if I can avoid towing the
boat while full from El Rosario.
BTW, how are the Chandler's this year. I have not found any decent strawberries all year......but, then, I haven't been by this year.
Do you have any still? How badly were they hurt by all the rain.?
