How is the vaccine distribution going in Baja?

AKgringo - 1-15-2021 at 01:45 PM

Are at least front line workers, and high risk citizens getting inoculated? I am also curious if Baja is getting the Pfizer vaccine, or the one from China that was reported to have been purchased by Mexico?

Take the political discussion to the off topic board.

A friend, who is a nurse at a Tijuana hospital, received her vaccination on January 13.

that is a good sign.

As per El Sudcaliforniano today, 4875 doses of Pfizer vaccine arrived in La Paz on the 13th. This is half the amount promised by the Federal authorities. It was then divided and distributed to five municipalities in BCS.

Although healthcare workers are the first to get the vaccine, Salvatierra and the Military hospital in La Paz did not receive any doses for unknown reasons.

I was also told that the front line workers have started being vaccinated just a couple of days ago in Tijuana,

This kind of question will always bring out a jerk or two.

Hospital workers in Loreto got shot last Wednesday.

pacificobob - 1-16-2021 at 08:14 AM

the numbers of vaccinations in south baja number in hundreds, not thousands

Vaccines are being given to front line workers in Guerrero Negro too.
In our village, there is a new mandate....people are being sent to Vizcaino to get tested if they have been exposed to known Corona case carriers. I personally know some who had to get the test and they tested positive even though they have absolutely no symptoms. This is why there has been such an increase in cases...more testing.

They are vaccinating front line workers in G Negro, just as Shari said and a friend who just became a nurse got his first dose a week ago.

Many in La Bocana are ill with the virus. Tests are available 10 minutes away in Punta Abreojos for $750 pesos.

I saw on Talk Baja that in the south they cost up to 5 thousand pesos! Jeeeeez

My mother turns 89 in a week and is living in an assisted living facility in "Alta California" (Thousand Oaks) but so far no one at her location - staff or elderly residents - has received the vaccine. It's especially infuriating because there have already been 2 outbreaks (thankfully with zero fatalities) there since March.
