global entry wait time?

verichip - 1-23-2021 at 11:58 AM

From the time you paid your $100 until you were allowed to make an appointment, how much time went by? Sounds like waiting for the appointment can take a long time as well.

JZ - 1-23-2021 at 01:24 PM

It varies widely. Mine was 4-5 months. Kids were 3-4 months.

It stretched out during Covid.

Read the 4 page thread on the topic. You can do things to greatly accelerate the time to set the appointment.

caj13 - 1-23-2021 at 04:57 PM

Just got notified that I an conditionally approved and can now go get the interview (global access) 9 months since I applied

verichip - 1-29-2021 at 12:58 PM

Maybe a few more people will report the first half of the wait time, the amount of time before the second wait starts?

A buddy got his GE in less than six weeks last fall. Had to drive from SD to LAX for the interview, but worth it I'd say

BajaParrothead - 1-29-2021 at 10:24 PM

My daughter lucked out and flew into Phoenix from SJD 3 weeks after starting the process and got her interview that day. 8 days later, she had her GE card.

I believe that is the key, fly into the country to an airport that has the GE office and walk in, most times you will get an interview.

approved last year......appointment is in Oct 2021!

BajaTed - 1-30-2021 at 10:44 AM

Reminder;
REAL ID is to go into effect 10-21
NO get on airliners without.
NO federal building or defense facility access.
Program security folks @ my contract site are sending reminders.
I was told SENTRI/ GE is considered only as a form of ID when you get your REAL ID D/L from your state.

Enhanced DL works in ready lanes. Pretty slick.

Also, your REAL ID EDL can substitute as a passport for USA citizens entering USA at land xings.

true but you still need a passport book or card coming into mexico to get an FMM so there's no advantage to the enhanced DL in mexico assuming you do stop for an FMM.....?

At the airport, TSA doesn't even look at your boarding pass any more.

You insert your DL into a reader or scan your passport. For some reason, my ID shows them I have GE/Pre-check, but my passport doesn't.

Believe it or not, they won't let you use your GE card to prove you have Pre-check.

Pre check is part of GE and it works great. If you book online you need to provide info on the card to tell them you have pre check and if you don't, you need to stop and get a new boarding pass when you arrive at the airport. Learned that the hard way the first time i flew with it but the lines were short at the counter so it worked out better to go get a new BP than wait in the regular line.

They don't use boarding passes at TSA any more.

Having it say Pre Check on your boarding pass gets you in the pre check line, but means nothing to the TSA agents now.

You enter your Truster Traveler # when you make your online reservation (or if you have an acct. with an airline you pre-enter it there). Your TSA/Pre status will appear on your boarding pass.

The only place the GE card is used is when you cross a land border into the USA.
