If anyone is staying at Desert Inn in Catavina please take a look at the EV chargers and see what’s there and if they work. A picture and costs
would be nice if possible.advrider - 3-7-2021 at 06:36 PM
Facebook messenger always worked for me, but you have to make sure to check in by 6PM or they will move on to the next person. We just made it in
time on a few moto ride to get our rooms. Jinete Viejo - 3-7-2021 at 07:05 PM
lapintacatavina@hotmail.com was a good email address a few years ago. Haven't tried it recently. The phone numbers I have are (01 200) 124 91 23
(Recepcion) and (01 200) 124 91 22 (Gerente).David K - 3-7-2021 at 07:52 PM

I make my reservations there using Messenger on Facebook. My Spanish is sorely lacking so I use Google Translate. Works quite well.BajaMama - 3-9-2021 at 08:22 AM

How are they powering that thing? I
thought Cataviña was off the grid...
The Mision Hotel has Wifi - it's not free for guests, minimal cost. I use it to check in with my family - the phone doesn't work but you can FaceTime
if you have an iPhone. David K - 3-9-2021 at 08:34 AM

Big 'ol generator... Just like L.A. Bay did before the wires came there from Guerrero Negro some 15 years ago. The village of El Barril did as well...
until they went solar (after the generator broke and they didn't know how to fix it).TMW - 3-9-2021 at 12:47 PM
I think they have two generators at the hotel.
Back in the early 80s I worked at KNSD-TV in San Diego and we ran the transmitter full time on a diesel generator. The transmitters were two RCA 55KW
in parallel and the generators were 800KW units. The primary unit was a 4 stroke German Diesel with a 6 mos. warranty. Well it never made it a full 6
months so the over hauls were free.
We saved a lot of money compared to SDG&E.

I'd be shocked if they had an EV charging station at the hotel. I've never asked and I've also never seen one in a handy location
Unless it's something new, I wouldn't bank on charging anything there unless its your cell phone4x4abc - 3-9-2021 at 08:47 PM
yes, they have two Tesla charging stations.
but the internet is slower than an old AOL modem.
took me more than an hour to get 2 short mails out.
even Africa has better service than Catavina.
food was good though RFClark - 3-10-2021 at 04:11 AM
Thanks for the information. Any idea if they actually work? They’re on generator up there!
When we were in Africa a few years ago they had better cell service out in the middle of the Serengeti than in LA! Starlink may fix that. Good food is
more important than the internet! spikemd - 3-12-2021 at 09:12 AM
Is there camping available in Catavina as a backup? We r headed down in 2 weeks to Guerrero Negro and plan to stop at El Rosario or Catavina for a
night. Bajabus - 3-12-2021 at 09:27 AM
If you are talking Boondocking, there are numerous pull outs and side roads before the town. We used to do it all the time in the early 90's We
stopped when there were a series of armed confrontations between campers and banditios. For a while Catavinia got a bad rap and it was considered
dangerous to boondock alone. Not sure if thats still the case. In any case I think rancho Santa ynes may still have camping and that was safe.
Good luck in your travels.StuckSucks - 3-12-2021 at 09:30 AM

In Cataviña, north of the hotel is the RV park. Just south of the hotel and across the palm filled arroyo, is the fork left to Rancho Santa Ynez with
a huge camping area that is very popular as it is 1 km. away from the highway noise.
